Re: Honda Journal Rods

Ok..thanks..is there any advantage to either one..Honda or IRL ? In your application probably very little. There are small advantages such as the use of a smaller housing bore (along with the slight reduction in weight and bearing speed). The advantages of the smaller housing bore, in the case of t...

Re: Rod bearing clearance question

As for your videos with your motors lasting for 150,000 miles with .0015 clearances, well so what? You could run the same red traffic light 100 times with no accidents but that does not mean it is safe to run that red traffic light. Maybe you just got lucky. so for over 20 years i must have been ri...

Re: Spark Plug Thread Lubrication?

Warpspeed, I have a question for you. On some of the SB2 stuff I've done the electrode breaks off of the plug at the base. I've talked to others that have seen the same thing. And no it's not detonation burning the electrode off, they just break off. I see the Cup guys are using X plugs, did they g...

Re: Rod bearing clearance question

Warp Speed, I asked you a question in another post a week or so ago. On a few of the SB2s I've done, they break the spark plug ground strap off right at the weld. I talked to another builder about this and he had observed the same thing. Is this one of the reasons they went to the X plug? Robert, T...

Re: Rod bearing clearance question

By the way I use the little stringy things from "bananas" as plastigage!! Was that supposed to be a dig??? LOL  Need to try a little harder next time! I used wide clearances as you do (along with 40w Kendal) and won many races and championships with it. That was 20 years ago though, ...

Re: Rod bearing clearance question

Pretty good thread considering this topic usually gets out of hand pretty quick! LOL There has been some good info/data posted (Rob/RW TECH). One thing that is always brought up when talking bearing clearances is the Darren Morgan post. The article referenced is a bit old, and I would bet his opinio...

Re: Spark Plug Thread Lubrication?

We use Coposlip high temp anti-sieze on the threads of all of our spark plugs. We have done extensive testing with Bosch on this, and this is about the only lube that provides the best grounding and temp transfer, while still providing the needed lubrication to get them out without damage. You do ne...

Re: Honing lifter bores

Number one their are more guys honing lifter bores on this site then the boat And just what does that have to do with anything, and that is not the reason you puled this over here. As stated bellow, you are just looking for your cheering section. If you read this quote it pretty much reads honing i...

Re: Honing lifter bores

It's classic that you always bring up "what do you own" to everyone who questions you, or has a differant opinion. What does "MY" equipment have to do with my knowledge, or my machining and measuring principles? If you have good credit it automaticly makes you a knowledgable mach...
