They certainly “Look” like there could be some easy gains by improving the transition from the bowl to the VJ and tweaking the SSR, but beyond that......I’d want to see flow results ...

It seems to be that’s the case.
They’re pretty tolerant of duration, especially with factory heads on them.

if going to MW Indy heads, I’d suggest upping the CR, especially if you stay with the stock stroke.

For a race car with a 10.6:1 440 and an 8” converter and 4.88’s, I don’t think I’d run a cam any shorter than 260@.050.

The MP 590 cam is 270@.050 on a 106lsa.

As for the cam you have, 277@.050 seems a little long for the under 11:1cr.

What was the test that led to arrive at that conclusion?

Several years ago I built a 455 Poncho with some RPM heads, RPM intake and a new 850DP carb(Holley 4781). Ran great on the dyno, ran great in the car.
