Re: Bowl porting Blueprint heads.

Unless you’re going to be tracking your progress by flow testing, I’d adopt the “less is more” philosophy with those. They certainly “Look” like there could be some easy gains by improving the transition from the bowl to the VJ and tweaking the SSR, but beyond that......I’d want to see flow results ...

Re: profiler tunnel ram

I’d recommend watching Darin Morgan’s videos before doing any mods(that add a radius) like what are described above.

Re: Work in progress: A460 Ford CNC porting project

Each pass takes about 26 minutes with the machine running at 80% feed rate.
Per pass.......per port?

Re: 512 mopar getting hot quick.

I’ve had people tell me, who had BBM powered cars with marginally adequate cooling systems, especially those with aftermarket WP housings(which often have bypass holes that are considerably larger than what a factory housing has), that plugging the internal bypass dropped the coolant temps by 5-10de...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft

It seems to be that’s the case.
They’re pretty tolerant of duration, especially with factory heads on them.

if going to MW Indy heads, I’d suggest upping the CR, especially if you stay with the stock stroke.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft

For a race car with a 10.6:1 440 and an 8” converter and 4.88’s, I don’t think I’d run a cam any shorter than 260@.050.

Re: water pump flow

That’s a good read on the BBM cooling system overview in that 1959 sae paper. Good info about how even at WOT, the temperature rise thru the engine is only 7-9deg. It also answered a question I’d pondered before. There are 1/4” holes in the deck/head at the ends, near the dowel pins. I’d wondered th...

Re: 512 mopar getting hot quick.

Here’s something that I find interesting about this situation...... The vehicle came with a big block in it, presumably not having an over heating issue. If the vehicle is going down the highway at say, 60mph........ doesn’t that only require a given amount of power? I understand that when you make ...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft

How high does the converter flash to? Foot braking? I’ve gotten decent results from the TG-4500 manifolds, but the 4150 version wasn’t that good. Thinking back, in 1990 I built a 446 that was 11:1 with ported 346 heads and a UD SFT cam that was 276/280-108. Didn’t quite make 600hp. The car was under...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft

The MP 590 cam is 270@.050 on a 106lsa.

As for the cam you have, 277@.050 seems a little long for the under 11:1cr.

Re: holley fuel leak

Several years ago I built a 455 Poncho with some RPM heads, RPM intake and a new 850DP carb(Holley 4781). Ran great on the dyno, ran great in the car. Other than........ when it sat for any length of time, it would start hard. Carb gaskets and needles and seats didn’t make any difference. Eventually...
