Ok so won't dry turn over. For the sake of $40 but will get a primer tool.
Cheaper than a new cam or worse.
Some parts stores have a loaner prime tools.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump return & fuel heat management.

Rick and AMC, Tonight I removed the carb & vented NAPA cap from the tank I bought and air rushed out. About 65° car was in the garage. Removed primary bowl. All looks good. I took a hose shoehornd it onto the needle & seat- a snug fit to the o ring and lightly applied pressure with my finge...

Re: Mechanical fuel pump return & fuel heat management.

First you should install a phenolic spacer under the carb. 1/4” will do. Canton makes nice ones. DEI makes great fuel line insulation if you need it. Now for the cure if this doesn’t work - non alcohol fuel and booster if you need it. I fought this for a year or two trying to make my stock appearing...

Re: Progression Ignition

Seems the average life expectancy of MSD's programmable distributor is hit or miss. (MSD Digital E-Curve Pro Billet Distributors 8394) Several issues reported with the PCB becoming corroded and eventually failing. It may well be the Progressive unit would suffer the same fate. I think MSD is the on...

Re: Progression Ignition

Could this not be a concern with any msd thingy too..? I see feedback saying their quality now is just as likely to do the same.... Regarding msd dist & CD box users finding themselves in similar straits, you'll get no argument from me --- however, many msd dist employ OEM's parts (such as Ford...

Re: intake manifold torqueing

When I was young, tight was good enough but as I got older I try n torque everything(now being able to afford multiple torque wrenches). That said oil, thread sealer, thread locker, anti-seize And crowfeet or I've read excessive extension length & multiple extensions effect torque! Some by as m...

Re: Bbc Comp Cams 290hr vacuum

I get it. We've had the car for just a few days now. Sounds good, idles good. Absolutely no power so to say. Rather than throw an entire rebuild towards an engine we sorta wanna know why. Sure we wanna fix it, but the 'why' is almost just as interesting . I'm thinking 225hp out of this engine right...

Re: 383 SBC Holley 750 eye burning stinky idle

i would get NGK #5671A-7 spark plugs. Also listed as part number 4091 Brian Ok will do Brian. Due to my plugs turning black with door, I was told to run a hotter plug than my Autolite 3924. The NGK FR5 were a step up. The ones you recommended are pretty cold. I’m still learning here. Just curious w...

Re: BBC rear main leak

I get what you’re saying but it could have affected the way the two seals meet and created a problem. I guess we’ll never know. Never been a fan of silicone in an engine. Sorry.

Felpro: STEP 5
Put a tiny dab (1/8" or smaller) of RTV on each end of the lower seal, where the seal ends meet, taking care to avoid the sealing lip. Less is better in this case.
