Re: Every thread in Politics / Religion / Current Events forum is locked?

I disagree! I come here to get the real news and not the crap that the ones controlling the MSM want to stick up my as*!! I try NOT to diss. anybody as well as to contribute to all of the tech sections. I hope that I do contribute to all of them because of no more than my AGE!! I am now an old man ...

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

Going to do the following: 1. new mechanical pump with the "sealed-it" heat barrier gasket system and composite pushrod. 2. 0.032 restricter in the T after the fuel log, with a return line and a fuel pressure gauge. 3. keep my electric pump in place with plugs in the fitting holes and wire...

Re: Every thread in Politics / Religion / Current Events forum is locked?

This is a good thread. A few weeks before the forum was locked I decided to stop posting there all together. That said, one of the reasons there is so much difficulty in discussing those topics is because we are always taught not to discuss politics and religion instead of being taught how to talk a...

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

“I used to have a mechanical pump dead headed to the carb, and I was boiling the fuel. I am wondering if I go back to a mechanical pump, and add a restrictor in the return line if that would be sufficient to prevent the fuel from boiling?“ I would go this route. Very reliable and quiet. I could alw...

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

To verify that your mechanical will work with a restriction & return to tank, mount a fuel pressure gauge where you can see it and see if it will hold pressure at WOT. Fbirds suggestion of a carter4070 to be used only as needed along with a mechanical pump might be the best answer. I really lik...

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

For the last several years on my 11 sec streetcar I run a -10 from tank through a aeromotive filter to a 200gph Holley mechanical fuel pump,Holley bypass regulator after the carb with a -8 return to fuel tank no restriction. No hot fuel issues ever, gets pretty warm here in summer 40deg Celsius, lot...

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

I never had much luck with the blue holley pumps.. Big six valve rotatable body mechanical pump. The feed line has to be routed AWAY from the exhaust . and headers. Keep it cool.. Adding a Carter P4070 pump at the back pressurizes the feed line avoiding vapourlock... Get the correct Seals-It Fuel p...

Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

I have a Holley Blue pump on my big block. My system is configured with a bypass regulator and return line after the carb feeds. It's been on the car for a few years, maybe 10000 miles. How long do these pumps typically last? I have a spare, but don't want to put it in unless I need to. Also, this p...

Yup. My new cam lowered my cranking pressure by around 10% (Intake valve closes later) and the engine makes more power.

Re: low buck 454

well you guys are going to be disappointed in me. In fact i'm a little disappointed in me. Since the first priority is to sell the engine, therefore keep the cost down. I went with the comp 11.602-4 hyd thumper cam. This allows me to use stock rockers and the motor will be somewhat dummy proof. I'v...

Re: Ignition curve discussion

In our two stroke shifterkart engines, the curve for best wide open power was very advanced down low and got progressively more retarded through the rev range. Probably due to some form of the same phenomenon. 2-strokes retard at high rpm to put more heat into pipe, which changes the speed of sound...

Re: Ignition curve discussion

My understanding--from listening to other folks, not from my own independent research--is that there's no need for additional advance after a certain RPM. In fact, high-RPM use may need a few degrees of "high-speed ignition retard" because the in-cylinder turbulence becomes so much greate...

Re: Ignition curve discussion

How did we get ten posts in without someone saying, "Just lock 'er in at 34 degrees and forget about all that initial and advance stuff." I tried a 38 everywhere setup, kinda bucked at low rpm steady speed. The map in it right now runs really well and is the smoothest driving setup ...

Re: Ignition curve discussion

Good. I really look forward to knowing what your final timing curve is. Hopefully the dragy will prove worthwhile for you. If you end up much different than what most expect, I might consider an ignition like yours. The only problem with this phone app stuff is will we eventually have to have our p...
