Re: Longshot at Assessment and Reason for Damage?
Im just shocked that those heads were assembled with painted springs.. probably broken valve spring caused some carnage.. if you can get a deal on the engine, go for it. Anything can be fixed. Its pretty expensive to build a 12 degree deal new these days. So even after its fixed you'll be ahead. MT...

Re: Some updates to an Old A460 tunnel ram - R&D
Come to find out I didn't need all the build up on the outside (front and rear) of the plenum and made a small mess roughing it out this evening. if this bit were a tractor it would be a D11-R. Re: LS Valve weight VS spring pressure
Walter, like i said i could be wrong.....i found them max pressure's from ISKY cam's website all there Johnson lifters are rated 185/530 pressure's. I just don't see why someone would need so much seat pressure with a small, low lift 55mm hydraulic cam. MT i was referring to Walter's build with .74...

Re: LS Valve weight VS spring pressure
I know, but the spring pressure's are rated @185 seat and 530 open pressure for this lifter, i could be wrong... #-o Where did you get those numbers ...? Certainly not from Specialty Engine Components; those who manufacture those lifters. Walter, like i said i could be wrong.....i found them max pr...

Re: 383 sbc first dyno experience
I'm the seeing the answer is in all of the above. A guy like Steve, who's constantly experimenting on the flow bench, is seeing an advantage (or not) when moving the rocker ratio around. That's with a given cam and an unspecified cylinder head, Unspecified in that it's constantly evolving. The rati...

Re: LS Valve weight VS spring pressure
I have mast small bore LS3 heads for my LSX, and the stainless intake valves I have for them are 126g (2.08"x 5/16“ x 5.45" length). I love these heads, but the long valves are HEAVY! How much spring pressure am I going to need, in order to control these valves at 8000rpm? Comp cams HLO S...

Re: Torque ft/lb per ci new benchmarks?
Lake speed did an interview/talk with Kaase about EMC and how streetable one of them engine's are and Kaase just laughed , saying it would be a turd on the street, and that they would build it totally different for a street car. That would very much have to do with what the engine built was th...
