Re:
What I have used for 20 some years is a 5 gal shop vac sucking on the opposite end of port I am working on. It even helps when doing an intake manifold even though you have several openings which I guess you could plug/tape to seal. I normally do not use a mask of any kind. I only use a mask when I...

Re: SBC intakes Holley 300-25 vs 300-2
Not sure tonight the difference in the two intakes but I can give you this much on the 300-25, back in the mid '80's we began welding in some "fins" and did a little porting and was able to pick up about 30 HP. We saw it on the dyno and some close customers who used it picked up 3-tenth's...

Re: Holley 300-36 and Weiand 8016 Stealth intakes.
Hi, just trying to get this straight here, are you saying you made the divider extensions out of epoxy or did you secure the dividers with the epoxy? Made them out of epoxy. Thank you very much on that. The only epoxy I have right now is the A-B epoxy, what brand did you use? I am surprised they he...

Re: Holley 300-36 and Weiand 8016 Stealth intakes.
Roger Helgesen & David Vizard did an interesting intake back in the 90's that I am currently trying to get my hands on, they took a Weiand (then called street ram) now x-celerator http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weiand-7547-1-X-Celerator-Intake-Manifold-IMCA-SB-Chevy-/270751755769 They ported it added ...

Re: best heads for a sbc 383 for towing?
I did a motor for my brothers hunting truck years ago, similar application, heavy, big camper, 33" tires, 3.73's plus he also wanted the motor to be really responsive at small throttle openings for quiet bush crawling, I used the much maligned SP2P and a Crane HMV260 (260/272, 204/216 .427/.454...

Re: SBC intakes.
Laugh all you want, but I am enjoying myself and that is all that matters, now, isn't it? pdq67 You asked for a list of sbc single planes that came out around the same time as the 300-36, and I gave you one, as well as adding the times that other intakes that had been mentioned in this thread were ...

building period-correct '80s I think "collecting" may be a better description, for that bedroom stash.. :) In my mind I'm always asking what is best NOW for my application and target goal. Sorry, didn't intend to mislead, that's not a list of intakes I own, I was trying to give PDQ the ye...

Re: I need a good place to buy a set of used forged sbc pistons
You won;t find may/any "good" used pistons for sale. All the good ones are either still running in a good motor or are reused. Only the junk is sold off. broken sets etc. Only used up pistons are sold off. Get a paper route and buy some new KB forged or hyper, your choice. They are very r...

Re: If you could print any engine you could imagine
Seems to me you may be correct on the H config.. Make mine the conventional V.. My first and only encounter was at Road America about 10 yr ago. They had Vintage F1 cars on track.. Was standing at Canada corner so I got full down shifting and then up through the gears to the start finish... I wet m...

Re: If you could print any engine you could imagine
How about a new version of the BRM 16 cyl F1 engine.. EFI off the shelf components.. What would I put it in? Anything with a 6 speed transmission so I could run it up through the gears and listen to it wail. Didn't BRM have two 16 cylinder engines? One was a conventional V with two banks of 8 cylin...

Re: Mopar B block open chamber heads
The runners in the #906 and #915 were the same, both can go 300+ IF you know what you are doing, and fully ported PROPERLY (this is the key word here) will outflow fully ported #452's, contrary to popular internet myth. But porting the #906/#915 runner PROPERLY is counter-intuitive to a lot of guys....
