Rough Combustion
Anybody want to share some thoughts about rough combustion or "Rumble" as sometimes referred to. I have always assumed normal detonation was the auto ingnition of all of the end gas remaining once detonation started in that specific combustion event, but could rough combustion events actua...

Sounds like you did the best thing. If he was animated enough to "discuss" the situation for a half hour, you probably had a guy that would never be satisfied and it will always be your fault he is not happy. Any way, more than likely , trying to remove or even just move the pin would do m...

Re: Iridium plugs question
Roundabout , I also find the study of the actual combustion in an engine fascinating as it really is the essence of its power. You hear and read about the different conditions of combustion in development or actually being used in production engines such as Mazda sky active engines, or the work on d...

Re: Iridium plugs question
Yes, Tuner, I personally believe that you explained the phenomenon of a possible succession of events that can and do lead to pre ingnition coming from a series of events in forming a critical mass type of situation in the combustion chamber. Detonation can lead into pre ingnition and I believe it t...

Re: Torque ft/lb per ci new benchmarks?
The EMC, and similar dyno events I have attended were some of the most enjoyable times I have had at any type of motor sports. The new friends I met, the conversations we have about our projects and then the sound of the engines on the dyno is thrilling to us. It is truly an awesome and enjoyable ti...

Re: Piston Choice
As far as an occasionally used mild street engine, the difference between a full dish and D shaped piston in this application , I believe to be negligible. I understand this to be mild compression, mild cam and only driven for your enjoyment. If this were a serious race endeavor where absolutely eve...

I read somewhere that pro stock engines have such wide LSA to be able to accommodate overlap with out crashing the valves into the Pistons.

Re: Where to buy an engine start up stand?
"Easy Run" is still operating as far as I know, I received mine in March of this year. They did slow way down during Covid they told me, but ramped back up and started making their stands again. It did take several months to receive mine after ordering it. The owner, Al, was very pleasant ...

Re: Where to buy an engine start up stand?
I bought a 66 inch Easy Run stand also and have continued to be impressed with its quality and integrity. They are so flexible to be able to accommodate different engines and makes of engines. Mine is set up as a display and presents in a fantastic and totally professionally way that communicates qu...

Re: Weird problem with piston installation
I personally have no experience with those blocks and hope some that do would chime in, but I do hear that without the heads bolted on or a set of torque plates installed, the bores can move around in all kinds of distortions. By chance, could #7 piston have been significantly warmer than the rest o...

Re: Weird problem with piston installation
What is the piston to bore clearance called for those pistons and is that what you have? Do all the Pistons measure what they should? Could there be a stack up of tolerances here that are not in your favor? As in cylinder a little too tight exactly where your piston is a little too big? Also curious...
