Re: sbc crankshaft gear/sprocket puller
I have a harmonic balancer installer/ remover that is designed to do both by using the screw the opposite way so all i do it put it on the crank in puller mode and use a couple of bolts that fit into the teeth like a roller in the chain with the bolt head on the back side with a small washer on it a...

Re: Main cap torque
Yes just torque them all to 95 ft/lbs and check your clearances, if they are good let it eat.

Re: Edelbrock air gap vs parker funnel web
I built a pretty radical 306 for my mustang and I didn't have a parker on it but a victor jr and on the dyno it wasn't happy until about 5000 rpm. It gained 15hp over 6800ish rpm but below that the air gap matched or beat the victor jr. The air gap was some 40 ft/lbs of torque better almost all the ...

Re: King main bearing clearance issue
Im glad to hear I'm not alone on my engine building struggles. I find more stuff wrong that shouldn't be than even I can believe. I wonder how many people just buy all the parts and bolt it together and it runs forever?

Re: Late model GM fault code experts
Get someone with a good scan tool and do a crankshaft variation relearn on it. I've seen before where the reluctor wheel get garbage caked on it and it changes the gap between the teeth ever so slightly and at certain rpm it will cause a false misfire reading. If you can't feel an actual miss in the...

Re: King main bearing clearance issue
Just thought I would update this. The line hone was fixed and it turns out the rear one was at the correct size and the rest were small. Now i have .0034 at the rear and .0028-.0031 on the other four.

Re: King main bearing clearance issue
OK guys I decided to check the line hone. I have a .0001 bore gauge so it's easy for me to see problems and needless to say I found it! The center three are all the same with .0002 max taper. The front one is .0003 smaller at the front of the cap and .0007 smaller at the back of the cap. The rear ma...

King main bearing clearance issue
I am putting together another sbc circle track motor. I tried the king hp bearings again in a fresh line honed block and i have a .0001 bore gauge i set to the crank size. I'm just running a cast scat crank. I have .0024 main clearance on the front four which I'm fine with, but the rear thrust main ...

Re: Rocker geometry. Again.
Crower makes what they call a backset rocker for this problem and I've had to use it before. Lots of great info in this thread that I posted when I was having this issue. I ended up using the crower backset rocker to fix this motor and so far it has ran about 40 hours in the boat pulling tubes at 4,...

Re: Crankshaft Trust/End Play Issue?
I had this exact problem on a sbc 383 I built last year for a boat. It had a reman motor in it that was drinking and leaking oil with 50 hours on it. When I went to put it back together I had .007 and after I torqued cap .003 and it was the same reason it was ground crooked when it was remanufacture...

Re: best aftermarket efi for a daily driver??
The reason I don't want to put a stock 351/e40d setup in it is I want it to look stock, I don't really want it to have the big truck intake on it that also limits power.

Re: best aftermarket efi for a daily driver??
I am not going to use a fitech on this one. We put two different ones on my neighbors car and they both failed on the dyno and the one we got to work without ignition control and put it in the car after he buys a whole msd igniton for the car and the display quit on the first trip. Then one time whe...

Re: Ignition box problem?
Take the battery out of your daily driver and try it in there I have seen batteries cause some crazy weird issues that you couldn't find a cause for. Also try a different tach, I have a buddy who has a drag truck with an autometer tach in it and he was having an issue with it breaking up going down ...

best aftermarket efi for a daily driver??
I'm restoring an 86 f150 and want it to be reliable. I'm wondering what is the best efi to put on it? I don't know if I should use a tbi style or a mpi style with an injector in each runner? I want it to start and run like a stock efi. It is a 351w that will be stroked to a 418 with afr heads on it ...

Re: header sizing for 418w in a pickup?
George from accufab said he can make them for $680 since its two wheel drive you can use the same header as a foxbody. I am thinkin bout going with them if everyone agrees 1 3/4" is the right size.
