Re: Triumph V8
Those had issues when new and stock. Oil pressure to the cams , water pump failures and warped heads . Continual exhaust manifold gaskets. Nothing good . Yeah the SAAB gave TR the rights and design for the TR7 engine and the Stag is twice the SAAB. Thank goodness the Stag usually rotted away soon en...

Re: Leaf Spring rear Shackle Length
The angle of the spring under deflection determines the axle shift . If the front is lower then the rear, the axle toes in as that side is depressed .
Other than shifting this angle, no problem .

Waste . No power change or running change. So far, I have not seen a reason to go sequential for fuel or ignition.
The 907 wont care. IMHO. anything is an improvement over the OE.

Re: Question in BSA and triumph frames.
I worked on the British Bikes when I was around 16-18 and later. I currently own an 82 Honda -450 street bobber ish. Fitted with Chinese shorties post crossover box, It sounds exactly like the TR 650 if you short shift it at 7000. Flat tracked a few ST1 rigged with long rod Tr engines . Fast for a f...

Re: COP vs CNP
I'm moving away from the LS coils. Big, heavy and use a lot of juice for NA engines. The VW 4 post coil works fine. makes the same power and uses less juice. I have both tho .

Re: Big block road race build 572
The all alloy BBC is a little under 550. I was comparing to iron BBC to alloy bits of SB2. It looks like a limited tire rule class and tons of fun. Of course- The best lap times are the result of applied power/torque . The more pedal that you can keep down= the faster the lap. Having peeky torque or...

Re: Big block road race build 572
The Cup style SB2 has a large linear torque curve and RPM range that is very easy to drive. It will crush most built BBC . AS mentioned above - Make the TQ very soft with a 110-112 LSA cam / Mild is better . The closer it is to having torque at 3000RPM, the better it will lap . Use a tall final gear...

You can also use some flux and braze the leaky spots.

You;ll probably go faster without the rear sway bar. That style does bind up and the dynamic spring rate goes way up as it binds.
I try to use little or no sway bar on the driven wheels for a lowered road racer.

Re: Compression
Measuring the CC at BDC takes into account/measures the piston dome. It is the exact way to measure compression. measure again at TDC and you have it . I use ATF for fluid . You can measure the dome with the piston down the hole also, but actual BDC CC is closer .and the math is easier . Takes a lot...

I use 050 or 58. Broke a couple of the 040 bits off in nice pistons.

They pass a lot of dust. But make power if the charge is cooled.

Re: spark plug gap vs lean mixtures
I spent a lot of time getting British POS to pass our emissions testing. Typical settings, 4 bottles of drygas per 8 gals of fuel. Advanced, fixed timing. Trimmed fuel mixture. Often lowered floats and loosened the valve lash to 030 . Light oil . make sure that the intake had all of the heat that yo...
