Re: 383/177 dyno!

Standard is supposed to be 60f dry air 29.92 baro.. The transmission drive shaft and axle /tires absorb about 15% +/-. I think you did good . 30° spark. etc. Yup no point in lunching it. Its in the ball park. Truck should go 115mph. ¼ mile ± ish What was the temp and humidity there? I would guess t...

Any air temp and baro data or is this corrected.
Ask the dyno owner
What drive pulley ratio is this now?
He said this was using the standard correction factor? I’m not versed enough in dyno lingo to know what that means.

383/177 dyno!

Not too shabby. About 450 tq and 466 hp on this graph. I did a third pull and it read 461/478 but like an excited idiot I didn’t take a picture. Made over 400 lb/ft before 3k rpm! This was on pump 93 running a 383/Weiand 177 combo with meth injection. I had the timing locked at 30. I normally run 32...

Hell, I’ve never used nitrous, maybe it’s time to try 100-150 shot!

Re: Supercharged 327 or 350/355 91’ S10

Is this S-10 using the mid length easy fit S-10 swap headers? Yes sir, just the “shorty” style swap headers. Not ideal for sure but it will work. I’ve thought a lot about getting a 192 from the blower shop for the Sierra but boy they are pricey! I would probably just add another meth injection kit ...

Supercharged 327 or 350/355 91’ S10

I have a 91’ S10 single cab. It currently has a stock TBI bottom end 350 with some Flotek heads and a small GM performance ca . Rear diff is a posi with 3.73 and a 700r4. Thinking of building a 327 or 350 and adding a small roots blower. 177 or 144. It would match a 95 Sierra with a 383/177 in it. I...

Re: Switching to a melanized gear?

Sorry for the mixed post! I called Crower cam, gave them the part number of the cam I’m running, and he recommended just a stock oem gear for a roller cam. I went ahead and ordered one for a mid 90’s vortec roller cam engine. I did clean up and enlarge the ports. There is still some casting “slag” I...

Re: Switching to a melanized gear?

Be Careful. There are people out there selling Nitrided Iron Gears, and just calling them "Melonized" gears. To run against am steel roller cam(8620 or 1050 steel), you need a Melonized Steel gear. Make sure it's Melonized STEEL Mike:' Is the gear in the following link an example of what ...

Re: Switching to a melanized gear?

Well, I get the idea on leaving the ports small for various reasons. Im referring to the unevenness of the ports and the severely crappy port on the right hand side of the last picture.

Switching to a melanized gear?

I pulled the distributor/intake/blower to clean up the ports on this horrendous Weiand 177 blower intake. How they charge $3500 for a blower with ports like that is beyond me. Either way the distributor has a bronze gear. This is a SBC 385 with a hydraulic roller. The bronze gear is definitely got s...

Re: 454 staring me in the face!

Did you ever get real Power / Performance numbers on yur current 383/177 combo in the truck? Track ET/MPH slips and or chassis dyno testing numbers. How much are you making now and how well is the power being applyed to move the truck. I ended up just selling the 454. I didn’t want to stare at it a...

Re: 454 staring me in the face!

I’m definitely open to a 700hp NA build suggestions?

I mean instead of spending the 2k on the blower I could put it towards a better set of heads.

Re: 454 staring me in the face!

With the stock short block and heads? The valve springs and cam would definitely be changed though. Then you're no longer with the stock short block/heads and you're on that slippery slope toward a full-meal-deal. Sorry, I should have clarified that. I meant the actual heads, how they flow etc.
