Re: One rod 10 grams heavier on big end

Unless he's gonna turn 7000+rpm don't sweat it, it'll be fine.

Lock n stitch, permanent & strong if done right.
That's an easy fix.

Re: Changing 50 Degree Seat Angles To 45 Degree?

Face the valves to 50 deg. They are coated . What's worse, refacing coated valves & running them uncoated on seats that are compatible with uncoated Ti valves or butchering a nice 50 deg valve job in a head designed & ported to use 50 deg seats? Reface the valves, have them recoated if you ...

Re: Power gained by additional cam lift?

It depends entirely on how much air the engine wants! If 225cfm is more than enough to feed it there will be no gain. If it really wants 300cfm then the gain will be substantial. Post up the full specs of the engine & what sort of power range (rpm) it works in, me or someone else with pipemax ca...

Re: Scat I Beam Pro Comp 4340 rods

Yeah, you'd be right on the edge of what they can take, given the application you need a better rod.
I'm a fan of the pro I beans, I use a lot of them - bang for buck they're hard to beat & they'll cop a fair punishing.
But they'd be out of their depth.

Re: Nissan SR20VE circuit race build

Why go with the stroker crank on the turbo? Crank is stock stroke nitto billet, factory cranks are prone to cracking. knight, when you build an engine like this do you sell the customer the billet crank or do you allow them to make their own decision as to what crank they will use? how do you get a...

Re: Nissan SR20VE circuit race build

Restrictor Turbo motor eh? Be a shame if you had REALLY BIG piping and end tanks and no blow-off valve for instant boost off corners kinda like that Ford WRC car did :p Very large plenum after restrictor, needs a bov tho. Antilag is class legal, but hard on the turbo & ex valves so use is limit...

Re: Nissan SR20VE circuit race build

Sweet.I have something I've wondered assuming rules allowed it how would an offenhauser compare to the modern 4cyl engines in competition?Apples to apples naturally aspirated.? Probably not far off on power, but cars must use an engine of the same layout (ie. 4 cyl inline) from the same manufacture...

The absolute best thing you can do with a torker intake is throw it in a creek & get a better intake.

Any time & $ spent on it was wasted.

Re: Torque ft/lb per ci new benchmarks?

HP per cube just requires rpm! (I know that's dumbed down BS, but sorta) Ft/lb per cube is a good measure of cylinder fill or VE%. Not all engines are max HP drag stuff, tq per cube is very relevant in assessing how well an engine is working. My street stuff usually hovers around 1.25-1.3 lb per cub...

Re: Nissan SR20VE circuit race build

Another one done, this one is a restrictor plate turbo engine, regular SR20DET, races in the same class. These only turn 5500-6000rpm due to the restrictor, 28-30lb boost down low, huge torque but not a lot of top end. Has a nitto stock stroke crank, Manley turbo tuff rods, JE ultra gas ported pisto...
