Some of the parts problem is Ebay, forum's parts F/S, craig, FaceB with knock-off/counterfeit and manufacturing/factory rejects being sold by legitimate and/or rip-off sites.
Then WWW spreads bad news fast.

Re: Low tension ring?
They're gonna move anyway, though maybe not too much with that 0 to 10 degree hone and those gouges to guide them, amazing how well some run even with wrist pin gouges.
Radius the ends, lightly.
Hope for the best.

Also, clean up fire ring around cyl.

Re: 400 SBC with Milodon 30908 Pan Oil Pressure Drop Under Acceleration
"...decided to add 6qts of water to the pan..."
Tilt the pan 30 or 45 degrees.
I've got no idea what acceleration it takes to move your lube to those angles, but it happens and it isn't very pretty. Good luck.

Gauge test, with hose/tubing & water & ladder for 10 feet of head should be 4.3 PSI.
I don't know about scientific standard temperature & barometric pressure.

Doesn't anyone just put down/weld a few beads out there, on the circumference and/or flank?
Less weight needed out there & no worries!
I'm still looking & waiting for that guy's metallurgy stuff on the 8 very pretty rods that crumbled!

Good luck.

Pressure test?
Squeeze a hose, C-clamp & paint stir thingys or whatever.
Lotta pressure if there isn't air inside compressing.
Good luck.

...once per week engine rotation... This accomplishes nothing, can only scrape/displace any lube, worsening it, sucks in humidity & expels lube vapor, and the spring compress don't care. Don't touch it, daily, weekly, monthly, whatever. It's the fast temp change, cold to warm & its condensa...

Re: Replacing aluminium head with cast iron?
Head/s ever re-torqued?
Every alum. head really crushes that poor HG every heat cycle and loosens up unless it has long stretchy TTY bolts, real TTY, not just using the torque-angle tightening method.

I ...sliders are still nice and smooth and freely move. I'd say obviously not, else it wouldn't happen. They aren't sliding freely under a load & you've gotta look & find out why. That Ytube guy says he's had it apart recently and now it's [DELETE THIS POST] because its dry(probably also co...

from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosworth_DFV
"As of mid-1982, 375 engines had been built. The cost of a complete engine at that time, purchased directly from Cosworth, was £27,296, approximately equivalent to £102,000 in 2021."
