Re: Camshaft design

The rotation is set to CCW when you receive Audie box. To change rotation direction you have to change setting on box, not software. I had already measured 30 or so cams... when I had a suspicion my graphing was reading right to left. To verify i put a small piece of tape on opening side. Of course ...

Re: Camshaft design

Change your runout to zero. See what happens to the opening ramp. Or that opening ramp really is like that and no good. I put a piece of tape on the known opening side of ramp and measure. To see the "bump". My graphs always read right to left.... when I first got my system and measured a ...

Re: Camshaft design

That kink is from runout. Are you holding cam in centers? I use centers (have to with my cam shapes) and zero cam best I can on bearing surface. Then measure cam. I usually get .0005" to 7 runout. I then always zero runout in software after measuring. With 30 smoothing you can't see what's goin...

Re: cam spauling: Can I run this?

Can't run that on a roller. For just a drag car it will last a little while, but destroy roller.

Is it custom ground or off the shelf.

Can be welded and ground depending on material. But that lobe will be slightly different

What are rotator eliminators? Why would you want the valve to not rotate?

Re: Flush before oil and filter change

The last time you shut it off, the oil was hot... and it had a chance to completely drain into pan. When you run it for 15 minutes before oil change, it's now dispersed everywhere, and won't have that long time frame to settle into pan. I'll say if you're going to do a 8 hour oil change, drive car i...

Re: Flush before oil and filter change

So you're saying the sediments in pan will stay in pan on a cold change?

What about the suspended junk that's now dispersed throughout the engine on a warm change? That all comes out?

Re: Flush before oil and filter change

Why do you think it's a good idea to warm engine up before oil change?

I prefer to change oil cold after a nights rest. Everything that can had a chance to settle. Warming it up isn't going to loosen anything that's already stuck in the crevices.

What type of cooling passages are in billet heads like that? Or are they strictly drag racing and they're not important?

Re: ***Post Pics of what you are working on**

CSA's aren't changed too much. A lot of clean up contour work.

Funny in the burr finish, I've been doing that for 20 years. I see it's in vogue now here on Speedtalk.

Pretty much everything I've seen on here is what I've found too. Little less flowbench CFM, little more dyno HP.
