Re: 400 sbc ?
Maybe a 377? Someone put a 350 crank in a 400 block with spacers by chance?

Re: ReUSE Oil Expander Ring???
I've reused the whole thing before on just a freshen up. Just keep them on the pistons and in the same bore they came out of just new compression rings. I figured they would reduce a little drag being they were used. I'm not talking 200,000 miles used. Just a between drag race season touch up job.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
It did improve when I locked it, but it's not 100% all the time. Seems fine when it's cold, but as it warms up the problem gets worse.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
It is currently locked at 38 and still has problems. I did not verify the balancer mark though, it is factory so I assumed it to be ok, but it's something to check I guess.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
We are also having a minor issue with it idling in gear. It idles clean in neutral at 1300 and around 1000/1100 in gear but it eventually dies. It was really bad when we first got it running, it had a 6.5 power valve in the front and plug in the rear. I put a vacuum gage on it and as high as I could...

That is what we were going to order for the Indy head engine.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
I noticed that it seems like 440's use larger duration camshafts than I am used to running. Is that because they are cylinder head limited so badly compared to a Chevrolet Big block? That's what makes sense to me in my mind anyway. They are crutching the cylinder heads with camshaft. Would that reco...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
My father in law is a new driver. I actually haven't ran the car, so I don't know what it flashes to, but PTC said it should flash to 5k. By ear watching it run I don't think it is that high. He launches it off the transbrake. It's a 727 that has a Cope Racing Transbrake in it.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
The intake is a Weiand team G. I don't really know much about Mopar's and what castings are better or worse than others. He has a set of 915's which are closed chambers. We are planning on keeping the motor pretty much as is till we can build the other block, want to do a steel crank 451 with H beam...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
The MP 590 cam is 270@.050 on a 106lsa. As for the cam you have, 277@.050 seems a little long for the under 11:1cr. Yes, I believe that is the case. I feel something in the higher 250's low 260's at .050" would be best. We got the cam for free, which is not the best reason to select a part, bu...

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
Well, it runs. I was on the fence about using this camshaft. I put a new set of comp EDM lifters on it and did break in like a new cam with no issues. The car before had 906 heads and a comp 292S cam. It's a solid flat tappet .525 lift and 252 @.050 duration. The 906's were pretty much factory with ...

A lot of good small companies fall victim to that. It's a terrible thing. People spend their lifetime developing a brand and then for quick sale and profit it can all be ruined in short order.

Re: 440 Mopar Camshaft
Nothing that I can see. It has been run. I put it in the block and checked the lift with an indicator and it's .395 lobe lift intake and exhaust. If I take it to .050 lift and zero my degree wheel and turn it over to .050 from closed I get 277 deg duration for intake and exhaust. Is there a way to u...

440 Mopar Camshaft
Does anyone have an idea what this might be? I tried Google searching both of the number and got nothing. I think the longer number is the cam core part number and the 3 digit number is the grind number, but I haven't a clue from what manufacturer. Resized_20230612_171328.jpeg Resized_20230612_17135...
