Agree, i have spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to make stamped rockers live. Could have just bolted on roller rockers and been done!

I run Daido bearings. Get them from Callies. They have plus .001 and minus .001 for all of their race bearings.

turn the motor over while spinning the primer. it may oil then.

I think that the 148 mph tells me it has power to run 8s. It just needs to get going quicker.

I used to have some pipe plugs with a small drilled hole for the lifter galleys. Got them mixed up, and put one in the front of the main feed(BBC). Went to break in the cam, and oil went everywhere. Simple fix, but it was a mess.

Was this with the small or the bigger cam?

I feel that the cam is to small to make much more.

I don't think that it will make 600.

True story: I had a guy pushing Amzoil ( i think) come to my place with the one armed bandit. I knew he was coming, so I put some gear oil in an engine oil bottle. He could not believe how well my "shelf" oil did. I would not recommend gear oil in any engine!

I believe that it is a lack of detergents.

I wash and scrub and brush the holes and still get stuff at first. I just open the filter as much as possible and as long as it improves I am happy. Realistically, if something is wrong, it will deteriorate rapidly, not improve.

Suggest looking at smith brothers 5/16 X .116 @ 7.850” long.

I am using the stock replacement mini GM starter. Very happy with it.
