Re: Change PR length for .025 less sweep?
Had the PR length set but then I changed rockers & found I now have .05 sweep I & E before it was .03 I & .025 E. I think the difference is the diameter of the roller tip the new rockers has a roller dia. of .6 & the others .475. The "difference" you are observing probably...

Re: Anyone used Ford Racing Z304D heads?
I'm looking for some feedback on a set of shaft rockers to fit the Ford Racing Z304D heads. Jesel is closed until Wednesday due to the impending storm. Anyone else make a shaft set-up that fits those particular heads? Really in a panic, need a set of good rockers to go on a customer's aluminum bloc...

Re: How to reduce valve tip sweep pattern. Help?
I've tried many different lengths of pushrods but still can't get the sweep pattern on the valve tip below .085 on the exhaust. Intake is over .100. This is a stud setup on a BBF. I also tried three different 1.73 ratio rockers. That didn't help. The Comps made it worse and moved the pattern away f...

Re: Squish velocity in two-strokes
I used to race a 100cc Yamaha KT100 engine set up with a squish clearance that measured a ridiculous 0.015" cold (solder measurement). At 13,000+ rpm down the long straights, the EGT would rise steeply and I could then hear the piston start lightly kissing the head at TDC. At that point I'd jus...

Re: bbf bearings
the clevite set is a full groove bearing. I was more concerned about the construction of the bearing thanks donovan Which bearing construction you opt for (steel, babbit or V-style) depends on the build details and engine application, and, to some extent personal choice. The full-groove Clevite 103...

Re: FE head cracks -- intake valve to spark plug hole
Okay FE gurus. I'm sure you've seen these cracks before...Both heads have cracks that run between the intake valve seat to the spark plug hole. The heads need intake seats. My question is, will these cracks end up hitting the water jacket? These heads are not as easy to find as they were, so if I c...

X2. If the waterpump's anti-cavitation backing plate was left out then the 385 Series can experience the overheating symptoms being described.CREngines wrote:Is the waterpump backing plate in place behind the water pump?

Re: BB Ford Help
I am rebuilding a '74 460 for a friend of mine and was wondering at what size camshaft does one have to convert the pedestal mount rocker system to an adjustable type?? 9.5 compression, balanced, and a little head work w/ 2.19/1.75 valves. The cam he wants to run is a hyd flat 234/234 @.050" w...

Re: BBF 460 Trickflow vs. SCJ heads
How close are the designs of both of these heads? Both have same port volumes and valve sizes for the standard port location. Are there any major/minor design changes in the Trickflow head over the SCJ? I've worked on SCJ heads before but not the Trickflow version. The TFS Street Strip and the SCJ ...

Re: 460 Ford head gasket extra holes?
I am working on a head casting design to fit a common 460 block. I just went to pick up a head gasket to make sure it fits up. The gasket looks like this one with two holes on the intake side that don't match anything on any of the blocks or heads I have been looking at. Does anyone know what these...

1st off it's genius, not genious ... If you are going to degrade my intelligence at least get it right in the spelling department... Thanks, I know how to spell. That oversight isn't from a lack of ability to spell, it is simply not proof reading what I type. 2nd I hope that anybody that read...

Re: Best OEM blocks???
What's the best OEM block to start with for making a healthy N/A street engine? We were talking about building a big block with fairly modest pieces. Heads that take standard kind of valve gear (keeping rockers in the $500-700 range), OE block, probably OE crank or budget aftermarket piece, economy...
