Re: Rocker arm to poly lock clearance

I’ve been doing some preliminary mock up on a pair of SBF trick flow, twisted wedge R, heads for a drag race application... ...I’ve got some older comp cams ultra pro rocker arms...I pushed the valve to full lift (minus .010 for lash)...My concern is that I only have .025 (I clayed it) clearance be...

Re: SBC valve geometry.

Thanks Paul Using the Miller Half lift theory, The same one Chris Struab advertises I apologize in advance for going on a tangent :) : just for clarification, the Straub video (to which I think you allude) does not show the Mid-Lift standard; that video demonstrates what is known as the Minimal Swe...

Re: SBC valve geometry.

Working on some 23’ Brodix heads with Ferrea 2.100 valves .100 long. Currently set up at 1.900. I’m having trouble getting the half lift method of pushrod configuring to work out. Does anyone besides Crower make a back set or rockers that reduce the trunnion centerline to roller tip centerline for ...

Re: Machine Shops Near San Jose, CA

Paul and Piston Guy, thanks. I keep forgetting about S&S. I was at their facility a few years back to help a friend dynoing a sbc. Paul, when do you think your shop will be open? Will you be a full service shop? Engine block machining, head work, porting, etc? Would be nice to have a San Jose s...

Check with S&S Automotive in San Leandro, CA. S&S is owned and operated by Rick Santos, winner of five consecutive NHRA championships in the Top Alcohol Dragster category from 1997-2001, and before then he dominated in the U.S. Nationals (in 1993) usually besting all the Hemis with a little ...

The general rule of thumb for rocker arm nut thread engagement is 1-1/2 times the stud diameter. Therefore on a 7/16-20 stud the poly lock should have at least 9 threads engaged at a minimum, not “3-4.”

Re: How to groove a main bearing

...These Mopar's need some oiling help and there are mods and bandaids to help get eneough oil to the mains to keep the rod bearings safe. One of those is using a full groove bearing. My King's are 1/2 groove... How sucessful have you guys been in machining a groove in a non-grooved bearing shell? ...

Are you firm on the engine being non-forced induction? I have a 1200 HP Twin Turbo World Record Setting Quad 4 that will be listed shortly. https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/download/file.php?id=24640&mode=view You could detune it with some tiny turbos for your "reliable" 800 HP. Of cou...

Re: SBF Oil Pump Spring Spacer

SBF factory oil pressure is 40 - 60 lb @ 2000 rpm. I want to increase it by about 15 - 20 lb so, I'm assured to have at least 60 - 75 max lb. Is there a spring available to do that or do I need to add a spacer behind the stock spring? Are you saying you want "60-75 psi max" at your noted ...

Re: Mr Fueling.

Did the Quad-4 ever used in production vehicles? Or was it just a one-off race engine? pdq67 The production versions and race versions are so different in their appearances that some people might not think they're related at all. And within the racing engines themselves there were changes made to e...

Sidebar: we have the 1200 HP Feuling Quad 4 in our shop at the moment, the one out of the Feuling Streamliner that set the records. Looking to sell it if anyone’s interested. If it's the engine that set the closed course record, the cam specs should be 276/268 @.050", and .564"/.484"...
