Re: Blowby issue

Take it apart and find out WHY it's got a lot of blow by....because that's a ring seal issue, and if it's bad enough to plug a hose, the issue is pretty serious....

Re: Older Sonny's Dart 320 head program.

I think I'd rather have the larger intake versus exhaust. I have no problem with a 1.900. If it would fit with a 2.300 intake. You don't need nearly as big as an exhaust valve as you think. My new stuff is a 2.55" intake, but only a 1.81" exhaust... Exhaust is literally pushed out of the ...

Re: Older Sonny's Dart 320 head program.

Colorado, I understand his engine picked up a TON. Could it be he may have had a mismatched camshaft for the older 360 heads? .5 seconds is HUGE in my opinion. Maybe the blower and ALKY really liked the larger runner? If it ran 15s, .5s quicker isn't much power. But a 7 second car gaining .5 is yuu...

Re: Older Sonny's Dart 320 head program.

You might hear different things, but with the availability of GOOD heads these days, you'd be money ahead just buying a new set. You'll likely spend less than having those ported and end up with a better part. Case in point: My buddy runs an alky funny car. He was running OLD dart 360 heads and swor...

Re: Let's Discuss Pushrods

Engine: sbc AFR 220 heads shaft rockers .080 wall 5/16 pushrods. Roller cam 20 PSI boost. The pushrods wore the black off as if it had guide plates. There was visible side clearance for both intake and exhaust. It was eye opening that there was that much distortion. Everything got upgraded to 3/8. ...

Re: Let's Discuss Pushrods

Would you say that a step up to 3/8" from a 5/16ths (.080") is a necessity for 125 seat, 340 open pressures (PAC 1219) and RPM's to 7k? This is a hydraulic roller, .360" lobe and 1.6 rockers. Should I require a new pushrod length with the new cam and lifters then it's a no-brainer I ...

Re: Let's Discuss Pushrods

I'll tell you this. The engine I blew up had 1/2", .168 wall exhausts, and 7/16-3/8 single taper, .168 wall on the intakes. The intake pushrods were bending and rubbing the port walls....I couldn't fit a bigger one in there so I had to live with it. New combo should allow MUCH bigger ones...exh...

GZ Motorsports uses a modified smog pump for their vac pumps and they work quite well. They have made some design changes to them as well, but they work....

Re: 2023 track goals and new combo discriptions

Get my engine back together after a rod failure last year....All new top end, all new bottom end except for block, oil pan, pump, belt drive, etc..... Lofty goal, but hoping to run 6.899999999 on the mountain on motor alone.......we'll see. Should make a 6.9xx though, Bullet and Matt are pretty conf...

Re: Can I make a 327 out of my 283?

Was always confused with the billet crank being the best. Seems like the grain of forged crank would follow the shape of the crank, making it stronger. The grain of a billet crank would be straight across, and cut through. (all else being equal) Am I on the right track here, or is the quality of th...

Re: Can I make a 327 out of my 283?

These days it really doesn't make sense to use anything but new aftermarket blocks and billet cranks. The days of using the best of what's laying in the pile just to see what happens are long gone. Maybe contact some of your sponsors and see what would be best for your racing program. I agree with ...

Re: 12 degree 632 questions

My all aluminum deal will grow about .015-.018" from cold to hot, but no way will an iron block change that much....Like I said before, mine only grew .006" from dead cold to about 200*, with those heads....My block was a 10.2" deck older Merlin Pro....SAME HEADS you're using....12* P...
