All my good sportsman heads were angle milled to 52-54cc
I think .040 flat cut is probably limit before cutting into seat
If you have 12.1 or more a crane cam profile with 266/274 on 108 should work well for you

Re: Home ported Sportsman II heads
Dan
Are you stuck at 11.1 comp and are you running pump gas?
I found that even when my sportsman 2 heads hit 300cfm with 2.08 valve they still liked big cams.
But you must have to compression to match cam

Re: Dart NEW REVISED SHP SBC Cylinder Heads
This new casting. Look a lot like AFR castings.
I wonder if they come out of same factory as the
AFR enforcer heads?
Anyone confirm if these New Dart castings are USA made?

Re: Trick Flow 175cc "Double hump" heads.
383 cid and 250 cfm heads should get ya 485 hp very easy if you want to run atleast .550" lift, if your not inclined to run that much lift then you need to root around to get 270 cfm from those heads. For my Dollar I would go for a set of AFR or the Edelbrock e heads. Indeed sir. This looks li...

Steve
Be really interested in the capabilities of this casting
Would be cool if it could flow in the 290s and make 600* Hp
And be made to look original

Re: Has a Dependable SBC flat tappet lifter been located ?
We have no issues with our US made flat tappet lifters, and have them in stock. They're made by Hylift Johnson, and are the only major lifter manufacturer, who's flat tappet lifters are 100% USA manufactured. The bodies are produced at a foundry in Cleveland, and they are finish machined in Michiga...

A 383 crank would go a long way to helping your project goals
A solid street roller around 248/254 @.050 on 108lsa would
Be a good starting point

Re: Engine dyno sweep RPM
What is the best (or correct) RPM/second sweep rate when testing an engine on the dyno? I know some use 300 RPM, others use 600 and maybe there are higher sweep speeds. What sweep rate is the most accurate and how do you decide which rate to use? I feel on a superflow it’s a little application spec...

What brand and grit do you like the best for cartridge rolls?
I find the recent brown ones don’t last very long before
Glazing or falling apart.

Re: The little 358 SBC Chevy that could
Pretty good calculates to 436.hp pass. That pretty close to what I figured also, I think the engine would be quicker and faster with some home ported Vortec's over the 200cc heads. Still seems to run good just not as quick as I thought they would be. Those sportsman 2 can be fast heads with enough ...
