If you look in the Clevite or FM cataloges you will find a listing for a bearing that is .020 over on the OD for line bored blocks. It is easier to get a set then just one pair of shells so just bill it to the customer that way

The last 4 premium billet sets I used did. Unless you have a really bad core shift it should fit fine.

I like to use the billet adjustable pointer but I install it after I check the cam and install the t/cover and balancer just to make sure it is perfectly ligned up with the mark.

I am just wondering if I am missing something on this. Seems to me that the only way to make a 1205 or 1206 gasket fit a head is to rasie the port roof a bit and lower the floor also.Having seen this intake and others similar that had port alignment problems with it as well as other name brand intak...

If you look at the site and get the gasket requirements for the intake that should tell you what intakes will likely fit.
In otherwords if they recomend a 1204 gasket and a 1206 fits the heads then you got the wrong intake.

Do you know for sure what the chamber volume is?? If so then just figure how many cc's you need to reduce by. My rough guess is about .035 off would more then do it.

If the heads don't already have the crap milled off of them you won't have to touch the intake.
Most GM type heads flat milling .006-.007""=1cc chamber volume reduction.
Doing the math with what you have it should not be a problem.

Thanks Carl for the time spent updating everyone on this. I do not have a CNC set-up to probe the blocks but I do have some fairly accurate measuring instruments to get the deck heights end to end ect measured to with in .001. It is a simple tool the takes a bit of practice to use but it can be set ...

Seems to me that unless specified in any ad's the block is semi-finished and requires decking and bore size finished. The main line needs are mentioned in any ad's just that they are finished.
The blocks I have all need a small tune up in the main line dept.

If after as you say just break-in time and the guides are done there vis a few questions that need to be answered. 1 Did the stock valves and guides just get used again? 2 If not did the head use the crane conversion kit for adj. rockers that requires no machine work. 3 If the heads had screw in stu...

The oil pan is designed to provide oil to the PU during launch and acceleration down the track. It would seem that the oil is being thrown forward away from the pu during shut down. probably hard to get away from that but as mentioned earlier an oil accu sump type system would prevent oil pressure d...
