Re: Spring Tester that made life easier

Pretty slick. I won't ask the obvious question.

Re: Ignorant young racers...is there any hope?

Having no money and making shit work is the reason we are all here. Me included to a point! How absolutely true this statement is. I have pretty much spent most of my life buying up my rich buddies "obsolete" race engine parts. I then proceeded to have a fairly successful drag racing care...

Re: hard cranking once and a while

Do you use this with a crank trigger setup or just distributor? If distributor, locked out or advance curve? Is the kickback when engine cold or warmed up or both? What's total timing # ?

Re: 380 ci sbc bending exhaust valve

OEM blocks(sbc) usually required lifter gallery restrictors but the aftermarket stuff does not need restrictors. I have seen instances where a builder made the mistake of utilizing them and caused oil starvation issues up top. Doesn't seem likely in your case but just a heads up.

At the rear tires?
That would be flywheel numbers but a good starting point. I edited my first post.

Re: Sharing results from my first engine build.

You are in the 580-600 hp range. This is assuming you are close to a good tune up. I will say that you are running way more rear gear than you need with that weight and tire height. For just starting out you need to know that you have a lot more potential and just need to work in small increments to...

Re: 380 ci sbc bending exhaust valve

As already mentioned, some valve stem seals are too efficient, especially the perfect circle style teflon with a flat coiled spring around the top making the seal to valve stem tension too tight. I always removed that top spring and guide overlubrication was never a problem. I now prefer the viton s...

Re: Streetability mods

The MSD distributor does make tailoring the advance curve and amount of centrifugal advance easy. Coupled with less total advance, I wonder if along with either the av gas or Delta Sonic high octane pump gas, that this could make this combo ok for limited street use. I will be heading up to Rocheste...

Re: Streetability mods

The best unleaded pump gas he has available is 92. He did say he wouldn’t mind putting a bottle of octane boost if that will cover his need. Presently has .038” felpro head gaskets so there are various other options there. He doesn’t want to pull heads if possible.

Streetability mods

So a customer of mine from 2011 called wanting to run straight pump gas in his 67 dart. Engine is 340-360 stroked to 415. Scat rotating assy. with 71-72 "J" heads, 2.02" int and 1.6" ex. I ported these heads fully but conservatively, incorporated a Lunati Voodoo hyd.roller 231/23...

Re: 364" SBC engine.

Lj 3.48 crank offset ground to sj & 3.57" stroke with 4.03" bores. That's a legacy for a stroker from when the older/ smaller journal rods where used. Machine shop needs to offset grind the rod journals for 2.00" rods and a 1.56" compressed height piston. And I don't know wh...
