Anyone familiar with mid 90s ford computers
1995 ford f150. Customer wants more power, via an afr 165 headed, stock or mild roller cam. 9.5 to 1 compression. Factory intake and shorty headers..... not sure what that will make for power.... maybe 325? Either way..... will something like this work ok with the factory computer? If not, what are ...

Re: LT1 camshaft question. The famous CC306
We inherited a stock shortblock vortec 350 REMAN engine that was ran in a 66 nova at 2950 race weight with this cam, a super vic intake, a 4300 converter, and 4.56 gears. It ran 11.68@112 or so. It had some z-28 style flat tappet springs with 110# seat, and 300# open. It hit a brick wall about 5800 ...

LT1 camshaft question. The famous CC306
What is this camshaft made of? Is it a steel core, or a SADI core. It is in the engine, and I can't see it. If it's a steel core, I'm going to experiment with a solid roller lifter on it. If it's a SADI core, I probably won't.

Vortec heads cracked. Who can repair?
Need help badly. Foolish move on my behalf. Had a pair of 906 vortec heads that I'd dumped alot of time into. They flowed in the mid to upper 280cfm range. After the majority of the valve job was done, found out one was cracked in between the seats. I'm not really willing to start over, so I wondere...

Re: 360 sbc, need opinions (maxracesoftware HELP please)
I really don't want it to peak higher than it is now. I'm happy having an 8000-8200 ceiling. I expected to need a 6300 or so converter. But I knew nailing the converter could be tricky since the induction is large and could make things peaky. So if this 8" converter cant be altered to get at le...

Re: 360 sbc, need opinions (maxracesoftware HELP please)
As of now we've been foot braking the car. Converter only seems to flash about 5000. It takes off and if you watch the tach..... It climbs from 5000 to 6000 smoothly, but when it hits about 6000-6200 it RIIPPPPSS up to 8000. Making a 2000 rpm gain in about the same amount of time it took to get from...

Re: 423 SBC combo help
Thanks for the suggestions. In your tranny experience did it get real hot ? Was the fluid burnt ? If something was binding i'd expect the second half of the quarter to be much worse. This car has a turbo 350, what did you have ? I'll look into it. Brian We had no idea it was the trans at all. It ha...

Re: 423 SBC combo help
I'm going to take a new approach to this. 1. I'm going to rule out headers as the problem.... Simply because we have had several 380-390 inch engines with 1 3/4 primaries and 3 inch collectors that have had no issues at all running 141 to 143 miles per hour at high 9.40s at 2800-2850 lbs at 8000-825...

Re: A couple of spark plug questions.
Based on your description of the engine, I would not run a hotter plug than 7. Ok. What makes that engine need a 7? I'm curious and trying to learn. Inefficient chamber? I know that most LS street engines use 5s and 6s with similar compression, hydraulic roller and more rpm. I also read an older po...

A couple of spark plug questions.
First off......496 BBC, edelbrock closed chamber heads, tiny dome, hyd.roller, street car, 10.7-1, 36 degrees timing, 92 octane. 6 heat range plug sound about right? (NGK scale) (currently have BKR6E/6962) Secondly..... The plugs weve been using for years have been NGK. Usually 3/4 reach, gasketed s...
