Re: 434 sbc. Power loss from running a nitrous cam?

I'm not sure why you bought a nitrous car if you just want a N/A ride. You will will have to change everything in and about the car to run it. Chassis to engine and converter will all have to be changed up to run right N/A. I wish you luck, but not the easy way of going about things as they will all...

I like it. You put together a nice build.
What did the heads flow if you don't mind sharing.

Re: What Happens When..............

That q jet intake works well to 5000 rpm and even better with plenum mods. Porting the heads, if you get in the 300s plus in flow that baby cam I think will get you in the mid 400s hp range I'd think. So maybe 11s in the quarter?

Re: Can you turn an Alternator backwards?

I flip them all the time, its a mus on the coyote enine swaps.
Make sure the newer alts have a one way clutch for the pulley. I put on a aftermarket pulley on the new stuff I flip.

Re: Custom race Tri-Y headers going lean

To get any true answers, we need more info to even start helping.
What did the plugs look like? Did you try jetting? Do any timing changes? Did mph fall off? Do you have the dyno sheet of the comparisons?
Changing headers means changing the tune for sure.

Re: 097 sbc cam

1.8 on a Gen 1 sbc  ....
1.7 you either need a offset trunion or your moving the stud/ shaft setup. Push rod needs some room also. Couldn't imagine a 1.8
If it was something that made money, I'd roll the valve angles first so not to get caught.

Re: 427 Build And Drag Test

Nice. Other than weight, those gm cast highrise intakes weren't that bad compared to some aftermarket intakes. I liked the square carb pattern better tho. Are you going to run the cast exhaust for the full sleeper effect? Yes its heavy........this build was about using parts I had lying around that...

Re: Lq4 compression for towing

Yes, knock down the sharp edges. My opinion for your build is keep compression ratio to stock paramiters ,add a good cam, clean up heads and a good cooling system. Nothing worse than having to high compression and all the timing pulled out for reduced knock, egt will get high, long pedal down towing...

Re: Protecting valve seats when porting.

Duct tape and lots of it. Use the old style tin foil heater duct tape on the seats (lots of layers), then duct tape over that and the spindle on the grinder. It's worked for me in the past.

A LS exhaust manifold is some kind of steel. You can weld those all day long. Just to be fair.

Re: Possible Power Grid + Crank Triiger Timing Issue

Every nitrous engine I've dealt with that was a power maker has a super slow chamber and cam exhaust timing is different. If your only running it n/a you might need allot more timing than its getting. I've seen a couple of engines where the headers would glow running a nitrous tune in n/a. I'd try ...

Re: New guy here, looking for some turbo ign timing help

The old turbo buicks and Pontiacs had vacuum/boost cans for distributers. With that said. Your best and only option I believe is a map able electronic ignition. The biggest gift efi has given to us is the fact we can program where and when things happen. No reason not to use the tech to our advantag...
