Re: power steering pulley

alotofdust , not sure of the press needed because you are trying to use aluminum on steel , steel on steel would be approx .0004 - .0006 , that is my opinion on the press needed.

Re: power steering pulley

I would machine the pulley to use a set screw , with a little flat on the pump shaft. JMO [-o<

Re: Re- balance rotating assembly

I don't understand what I am looking at , both pistons look like flat tops to me , but I would run the shorter lighter piston in the picture with the shorter wrist pin , not sure where the 7cc's are comming from. Maybe I am missing something in the pictures. #-o

Re: Damage from running excessively lean?

I believe they are Icon pistons, at least that is what it looks like to me. No idea on the history...I was fixing a completely different issue when I found this. It is a standard bore and I think it will clean up, but it may take a .060 overbore to get there. The guy who supposedly built the engine...

vht , I have used a few Ohio crankshafts and they seem to be machined and sized "decent" , they are a little heavy in weight , sbc approx 53-54 lbs.

Re: Valve Job Concentricity

I also do the same as steve cowan and 1980RS with stones, it takes time but my valve jobs and their's are sealed and that is where some great power gains can be made. I only lap a valve to see where my valve seat is in relation to the diameter of the valve margin , but I check every head. It's just ...

Re: Valve Job Concentricity

My opinion is the valve job if done with cutters , was never centered. It also looks like the valve guide pilot was not square / level / perpendicular to the valve machine. I find guides all over the place especially GM Votech's . The valve job looked pretty good as delivered. As I mentioned new gu...

Re: Eagle or Scat?

Skip White in his long description of his products says to always check and resize any brand of rod. He has an option in there to do it for you. He has options to polish the crank and also a RACE balance. Ok the assy is supposed to be balanced, even tells what machine they do it on, so what the cra...

Re: Eagle or Scat?

As for Eagle SIR rods for sbc: I KNOW this because I witnessed it. Builder did Not check Eagle's work and it bit him hard. Big ends apparently Not torqued to spec when honed to size at Eagle (Not "really" Round). Builder assumed as new it must be good (Wrong). When assembled & torqued...

Re: Speed wiz software

I wanted the camshaft timming program to play with , so I downloaded the cheapest version for $29.95 , played with it for approx 5 minutes and it seemed to work perfectly , I did not try any other parts of the program , but it seems like a decent program to play with , can not tell how accurate the ...

Re: Speed wiz software

Some times less expensive programming can provide many valuable calculations , the screen shots are impressive outputs , it would be interesting to hear from someone who has used the program.
