Re: Did the SBC 406" die with BigJoe1 ??

I had a choice of a 383 or a 'high nickel' 406, I chose the 383 as a DD and mileage (oe roller and one pce seal)- never had a 406 tho. Oh no! Here comes the dreaded high nickel urban legend. FWIW, my machinist has long ago lost count of how many SBC blocks he's bored and says he sees no difference ...

Re: 1994 350 TBI questions

If the engine has all that- you can safely assume that if it runs ok, it's got a tune.
On thirdgen.org or gearheadefi there are some venders there that can modify the tune.

Re: Overbalanced 3.75” SBC crank and vibration

I learned a lesson years ago when the assembly was all balanced together with the flex plate (it was drilled as well) might work great at the time- but what happens when you need a new flexplate. I didn't keep the old one to have the balance duplicated. So I prefer to have the harmonic and flexplate...

I've had a couple engines built and it was cheaper to buy a Scat crank replacement- but I never understood the Eagle fans as my research indicated the Scat was a better built unit, also what money saved may go into correcting deficiencies.

Re: Power difference between wedge and canted chamber

Old post revival.... I had a couple of threads about GMs old 302 canted valve in the late 60's that never made it out of prototype for Transam I think, apparently there just wasn't enough power difference. Probably comes down to the individual who can tune the most and bestest. I just think they loo...

Re: Rocker Arms: Steel vs Aluminium

I've run a few types on a gen1 SBC and have settled on CC steel Ultras- I'm far from a CC product fan but these have the price I can stomach for street app. Never had a failure on the several sets of steel/alum Crower/Crane/CC. I agree the alum is noiser. Question on your Comp rockers. When did you...

Re: Hencho en Mexico 🇲🇽

I don't have much to add here except to say- the manufacturers didn't move production 'offshore' because of better quality elswhere......it was purely cost driven, so I would rather put the money into a domestic block.

How about freshen up your existing bottom end and put the money into some outstanding heads AFR ovals?

I'm sure these production blocks have all kinds of issues that won't kill an engine- and you don't see them...;)

From what I have seen drained- I wouldn't want that crap in the crankcase.

Re: Anybody have any experiance porting poor flowing Toyota jeads?

No idea, these engines are fading away for any serious effort....in any case this is a DD and any radical work would be a waste of money. At this point I will turn the boost up if I need more power. If the head needs to come off for any reason- I will send it to a guy who knows what area to work and...
