Re: Do Brodix heads have proprietary valve guide ODs?

We don't do much Brodix and a customer brought in a bare set of "Big Brodie's" he picked up somewhere off eBay. (Which will end up costing him more than if he'd bought loaded heads.) They have approx .545" valve guide OD. Are the guides a Brodix-only diameter? Who's a good source for...

Thanks every one for the help provided. Newold1 The engine is a one cylinder Lombardini model 3L510 it powers a little tractor, since the engine is dissasembled and the intake and also the exhaust don´t look very good I would like to do some mild porting to it. mag 2555 Have you done some porting o...

Re: Minimum safe port wall thickness

I’ve had to repair a pair of Edelbrock 15° Victor SBF heads that were around .040” in that area and had cracked between both bowls. There was no water anywhere near the cracks, but it took 16 inserts, 16 guides and some weld to repair! This was a turbo charged 440cui drag engine making around 2000hp...

Why don’t you fix your oil aeration issues?? Aerated oil doesn’t lubricate that well either...

Re: Flush before oil and filter change

Flushing has never seemed like a good idea to me. We see lots of badly maintained ex japan vehicles with deposits stuck inside the engine. When you use additives to do a flush, it loosens them up, they don't come loose straight away but come loose later, end up blocking the oil strainer, then they ...

Re: How to fight exhaust reversion when the primaries are way too short

Somehow that exhaust manifold with unequal length short primaries works very well even though the pulses are all wrong. I'm guessing that it's something related to the primaries exiting parallel at the collector, like in the LS7 "four-in-a-row" collector. For sure there is more going on t...

Re: How to fight exhaust reversion when the primaries are way too short

Given that I'm running on pump gas and with low compression, I really want to empty that combustion chamber from hot exhaust gasses. I tend to agree on the overlap. If the gas flow goes in the wrong direction, shut the valve! Filling the intake runner with hot exhaust gas isn't going to help make t...

Re: 8.1 inch rod in stock block/stroke 350 and -----

Yes, I will do 8 compression rings at once - 4 on two pistons and 4 second rings on 2 other pistons. Block only has 4 4.033 bores the rest are single sizes that I use mostly after 4.03 bores. DV David, as there is a ceramic coating being deposited on the rings, does this also get deposited on the b...

Re: 8.1 inch rod in stock block/stroke 350 and -----

David: since you'll be using custom 'pistons', free of most of the constraints of a running engine, will you make them extra-long and cut two or more sets of grooves to speed up the processing time? Yes, I will do 8 compression rings at once - 4 on two pistons and 4 second rings on 2 other pistons....

Re: 8.1 inch rod in stock block/stroke 350 and -----

This ring processing 'machine' is moving along slower than I'd like but here is a piston and rod at TDC in the block. I see a lot of comments about bedding in the rings. This setup is not about bedding in the rings it's more about not having to bed the rings in at all.The current top hi-tech engine...

Re: NPT plug in combustion chamber?

I have repaired cracks in diesel chambers before and used this stuff on the threads of the ‘A-plugs’ https://www.seallock.com.au/products/fluid-weld I think you have a very reasonable chance of success if you have enough parent material for good thread engagement. Interesting looking gear. I'd neve...
