Re: Chamge to Ti intakes and 50 degree seats?

Ok, cool, so the rest of the story is that you input an incorrect shift setting with a new bullet.
Found your combo, nice set of parts. :)

Re: best timing setup BBC

If you go to YouTube and look up "Ben Alameda Racing", Ben put out a really great video on timing chain vs gear drive vs belt drive about a year ago. Title is: "Timing chain vs. Gear drive vs. Belt drive. Which is best? Answer at end of video." I think it's a great video with go...

Re: Chamge to Ti intakes and 50 degree seats?

Wallace calculators don’t support the stated 986hp, more like 920ish. You’ll need around an extra 60hp to run low 8.40s or like Dave mentioned, an improved setup. You state the RPM limit is 7800? What parts are limiting the rpm? Do you have a non-hero timeslip you can post? How about the dyno sheet?...

Re: short vs longer wheelbase feedback

Folks have already BTDT. https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/s10-extended-cab-drive-shaft.123994/ Find a real good driveshaft shop that has S10 experience. My calcs show that at 70", carbon fiber may be the only suitable material for the shaft. Steel or aluminum are only good to about 5900 RPM...

Re: Serpentine Oil Pump Drive?

A quick check on Aviad pump and crank pulleys shows the pump is driven half of crank speed. Peterson dry sump pumps show similar crank/pump pulley ratios (50% engine speed) A serpentine system typically has a fairly large crank pulley to run accessories so running the oil pump on the same belt might...

You know one thing I never figured out is.....in a wet flow intake manifold it seems like with a sharp enough turn it bounces the fuel back i...

Re: One rod 10 grams heavier on big end

Install the "heavy big end" rod in cyl 4 or 5 to minimize the secondary moment it is going to create and reduce bending stress on the fillets of the number 3 main bearing journal. I don't agree the above statement regarding "only 50,000 grams" of force being negligible. A 100Hz v...

Re: Port Injection Strategies Paper: Key Takeaways on Open Valve Injection?

Any new thinking on these points? Is there a case for running Denso 12 hole in preference to Bosch on a street toy? Cheers What power level are you at? You'll probably find more difference in injector dead time at low engine speeds than improvement in all out performance. You may also find that it ...

Re: Tire growth @150.

It’s still a bias ply slick with stiff sidewalls. Conservative growth would be 5% of the circumference. So, 150mph with a 97” rolling circumference tire is about 1633rpm. 5% growth would be 1551rpm.

Re: aluminum block and power loss?

Hoffman 900, the heat loss i discribed is what is lost to head and cylinder bore during power stroke. I have no idea how much is lost due to the aluminum block, hence my question Coefficients of Thermal Conductivity: A356 Aluminum: 151 W/m-K Ductile Iron Grade D: 36 W/m-K The aluminum will conduct ...

Re: Highest power exhaust for GSX-R750 L1 2011-2023?

Thanks for the explanation, modok, much appreciated. I have witnessed the fuel cloud above a set of Webers on a V8 below peak rpm on a dyno, just forgot to attribute reversion to possible exhaust issues.

Re: Highest power exhaust for GSX-R750 L1 2011-2023?

It's even possible an exhaust system that should be symmetrical will run like it isn't. I don't think you will have to worry about that, but, it happens a lot more than people think. Why would a symmetric and even-firing engine run very differently in different cylinders because of the exhaust? Is ...

Re: Crosskart Xtreme best center of gravity height?

I need more info regarding what adjustments were made. Is the video after the adjustments or before? Does stiffening all the settings mean just turning screws for increased compression and rebound (and maybe low-speed compression) or were the springs twisted a tad tighter? Fundamentally, the rear ro...

Re: Crosskart Xtreme best center of gravity height?

Here are a couple links to roll center definitions and how to use them for handling tuning. (I can see why on an F1 car that defining the roll center is paramount and defines the chassis hard points early in the design. Since the F1 car is pretty mature, roll center windows are very well defined and...
