Re: Chevy LS3...
I am comparing it to sbc with simular power output and displacement. A sbc can run without an oil cooler at medium loads all day but an ls3 needs the oil cooler or you will see 230-250. For light duty just highway cruising or around town you won't see alot. Ok, makes sense. Thats probably why it ha...

Re: Summit Vortec sbc heads
I do believe the port shape is for injector clearance. Seems like alot of clearance for the L31 style injector, maybe its just over clearanced? I looked at the same view, certainly not a typical vortec head (as EQ is or RHS was). However a new USA casting, assembled for $309.50 with free shipping w...

Re: Chevy LS3...
The ls3 engne makes a bunch of oil heat so if your using conventional oils change it often. They have alot of oil shearing going on. How much heat have your seen? My factory oil gauge in my car has yet to exceed 210 degrees, well within the confines of conventional oil. Thats just driving it mostly...

Re: Summit Vortec sbc heads
I looked at the link to Summit, and the roof of the intake port entrance looks odd, like a semi cathedral port, that would be a weird to get a port match on. The chamber also doesnt look very much like a vortec head in the pic. Maybe the pic isnt totally accurate. IDK.

Re: Chevy LS3...
Do any of you guys recommending against following the oil life monitor have anything but old habits to back up those statements? ie, oil sample testing? Yeroon Yes, absolutely. As was mentioned previously, 3.6 timing chains are a regular casualty, I work at a Chevrolet Dealership. There are two in ...

Re: Chevy LS3...
I ignored the DEXOS and Mobil 1 monikers on my LS3 Camaro. Made my first oil change at around 1000 miles, switched to Valvoline 5w30 Conventional, and change it every three thousand miles or so. Car has 10,000 miles now. Put a camshaft in it a couple thousand miles ago. Everything looked perfect tha...

That cam should run well in that combo.

Re: Dyno Results for the RPC heads/for Chad Spiers
I will find all that out. It's going back on the dyno. I know we can find 25 more hp! I think this engine could win Engine Masters!!!!! No clue and I have no idea what an EMC would average! Your confused obviously. :D Your engine is 100hp and roughly 50 ftlbs off from the 6th place 385" entry ...

Re: 600hp from 9.5 motor
I feel the carb is the big issue, then the low port head, then the compression. A restricted engine would really respond to higher compression, which you cant have. 600hp could be obtainable with enough rpm, which the carb wont let happen. Those rules are really a nice set of double whammy's. Not to...

Yes, I would think so.BlitzA64 wrote:Limited Sprint would be mechanically injected would it not?Why do you feel it picked up so much? Thats a BUNCH of power to gain from changing firing orders. Some sort of fuel distribution issues?

Re: Yet again SBC 4-7 lobe swap questions
Yes I did it in a 360 limited sprint engine. Gained 35lbs torque and made 12 more HP after a retune. as I mentioned before in a max effort engine its worth it but to change a running well combo to try it you will be disappointed in the results. Why do you feel it picked up so much? Thats a BUNCH of...

Have any of you that previously posted advantages, switched cams with the only difference being firing order on a dyno and measured results?

Re: Alchohol Carb/11-1 compression
While methanol can tolerate alot of compression, the most impressive gains from switching have been on lower compression, less efficient engines, from what I have seen. The really nice stuff tends to gain nothing or very little.

Re: 355 CT cam?
1) depends on how the gain was picked up in the port, but generally same lobe family but less duration 2) again depends on how the gain was increased in the port, I may keep some of the same splits but use a different exhaust lobe family 3) again it depends how the gain was increased Not sure where...
