Holley vents

Post by Rattlin' Bones »

Hi New here.
I have a 3310 Holley that has had the choke horn milled off including the vent tubes. What will not having them or what difference does the length make? I remember race cars used to join them with a piece of hose with a notch at the top?
Cheers

Fuel slosh is the problem. Accelerating & braking, fuel can slosh into the carb bores.

airflow can just plain suck gas right out of the vent tubes when they are there. cant imagine how bad it could be with the tubes cut flush.

I'd like to try the hose extension for the vents to go outside of the filter for a dirt tracker , or anything with a filter ,, i think it would keep the bowl at atmospheric , and should help carb function

Doing that would result in a pressure differential between the fuel bowls and the carb bores/boosters that varied with RPM, due to the restriction of the filter design and cleanliness, thus producing unpredictable changes in AFR.
