Got a buddy who is just learning how engines work, I want to show him some elite info and boggle his brain. I read an article a few years back about no 2 Pro Stock engines are the same, pretty much hand crafted all the way up.

Any one got any info, Google aint helping me.

these are pretty simple articles... and way out of date.

Last "almost verified rumor" put a top 5 capable engine in the ~$230K range. A good lease program is 1-1.2m/Yr...

Darin Morgan would have the most current info on the board. I know for a fact a good set of heads alone can cost more than a good 410 outlaw motor.

When Bob Glidden retired his Ford from Pro Stock competition and few years back he put his motor and log book up for sale for like $1.4 or so million dollars. You missed your chance to see what a non competitive engine was like :D .

Seriously an't gonna happen. In the older days we used to say it wasn't rocket science, well today NASA doesn't have anything on them.

Blessings.......Ron.

Wasn't when he retired. It was around '89 or '90 when he was still pretty much wearing them out. There was a lot of complaining going on about the intake manifold and such. So he offered to tow it back to the trailer after a run, pull the motor and it was yours, for $1.7 million. Offered to throw in the whole shop for another $300K I believe. Although there were no takers, rumour has is there were some pretty seriously considering it.
I'm pretty sure this was around the same time as the deal with IHRA happened. I think it was in Milan. That was his, and I think Reher/Morrison's last IHRA race. MJ

It was his son Billy who publicly admitted to used NOS. Way the story goes he did it to prove to the old man it could be done without being caught.
With some backing from Harold Stout, Bob's 3 year old cars and engines he was going faster than Bob was at the time.

i do believe that after passing tech and qualifing with nos installed on the car billy went to tech and showed them how he done it and withdrew his entry just to prove a point.

Let's not forget the Mopar Team that was going fast and won a championship. There were rumors of cheating and then suddenly, someone broke in their shop; stole everything and then suddenly the following year they were no longer competitive...
