Bret,
Thanks for the compliments, ..
yea I did the New York & Miami beach photo thing for a while, ..
made most of the money doing industrial & corporate work.
The big problem was Low ballers just like in our current work, ..
and I needed a New York Representative to do the business side, ..
and couldn't get one.
My last big client was a pharmaceutical co., .. I did about $60K a year for
them. One day a secretary's uncle offered to shoot the work for
$5K !!!!! These jobs where high production with big crews, ..
but this guy did it as a hobby so he didn't think he needed to charge very
much. Man that pissed me off!
I REALY enjoyed the industrial work, .. got to shoot in Aeroqip's hose plant, ..
Mac trucks, .. BMW, .. Calf. robotics co., .. lots of very cool stuff.
But again, the real killer was finding a rep to handle the business side
while I was off shooting and doing production.
I had a car studio down in NASCAR land for a while, .. shot the cars & drivers
for their sponsors. The partner cleaned out the bank accounts and took the
clients, .. .. that was kinda the final straw that made me go back to cylinder
heads full time, .. . that and loosing the pharmaceutical client.
I still shoot some photo jobs, .. but mostly industrial or automotive / racing
that I like. I'll be glad to shoot stuff for people here is needed.
Of course I still shoot some model work now & then.
Now if I could make the same money in cylinder heads, ..
Curtis
