I don't know why people don't use a TPI based hot rodded motor for towing. They make a TON of torque right where you can use it. Especially when the heads are opened up a bit and a full tuned exhaust is added.. Don't need a ton of rpm, Don't need a huge cam. Direct port fuel injection.
Great underhood visual.
Most make the mistake of adding oversized tires without adjusting the gear ratio. The OD gear in the 80's 90's GM autos is not designed for "towing" .

The old, "SP-2P", intake.

Its made for this if not mistaken?

I have both, a 4-barrel, SBC and a 4-barrel BBC, just to have in my stash out in the garage.

Might consider putting a tuned for the application, 750 Q-Jet on it or drop down to a 390 cfm Holley big truck 1850 type 4-barrel(?)

And I figure that 210/210 cam is an old Crane, right??

As silly as this sounds, the old, "Performer", hy-cam of old does quite well here.

204/214, 112/108(?), .420"/440" or so...

In this modern era one would hope the website could ask if the poster is certain it wants to respond to a question that’s so old it’s already started puberty.
