Is it ok to stack steel shim head gaskets like the FelPro 1094?
I need a compressed thickness of .033-.035
this looks like my best bet by stacking two gaskets together.
Or does anyone now where I could get a gasket for a 4.00 bore small chevy in a 4.135 X .033-.035? I have already tried Cometic.

I've stacked stamp steel Mr Gasket head gasket on a 468 BBC with a measured 13:1. I did it also with a Felpro Perma Torque and a stamp steel on a BBC with aluminum heads and better than 13:1. With the aluminum head, I just made sure the steel gasket was against the block. I always used a good spray on sealer also.

Re: Stacking Head Gaskets?
Stacking only two gaskets, I wouldn't worry. Just use silver paint between the stacked gaskets, assemble wet & let the paint dry before running the motor. You'll never be able to separate the two gaskets again & neither will the engine.

Certainly, with the protruding embossments facing one another is usually better sealing during "head lift" than simply stackingrunawy9 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:32 pm Is it ok to stack steel shim head gaskets like the FelPro 1094?
