Had a shop clearance a block for me and I just noticed this
My idea to fix is to use tapered plugs - the same ones they use for crack repair.
Anybody have a better idea?

use Pioneer "cast-iron" tapered plug kit with drill, tapered reamer, and tapered tap
then would have to partial fill block lowerhalf with HardBlock
and to make sure..a little thin epoxy coating over tapered plug where it was clearanced for rods
if you try to weld it, you would probably chase crack unsucessfully, unless you are a welding expert ?

Of course, the block is completely machined. This one cut seems to be the deepest, but I've got concerns about the others. I drilled through in preparation for the tapered pin and it looks pretty thin - I don't know if it'll work. I got some tips from the guys at Seal-lock. We'll see what happens.learner wrote:Don, I'm wondering how close the other notches are to going through. Has this block been machined other than the notches?
I've been screwed so many times in my life trying to get a deal. From now on I'm searching out the most expensive products and service providers - In the end I'll save.
