no has not been overlooked. That actually was a big issue finding the right cam for the first 239 as only 54 has that dreaded 13th gear dissy and large cam bearings...........

They also changed the oil pump and distributor drive from a blade to the later hex. Additionally, the 239 (1954) intake manifold is a stand alone as are the matching heads...the interface angle, where the gasket goes, is different from all other Y blocks.

IMHO, they could never keep up with the early SBC's but dam, good info here!!
