I can't seem to find much on ebay- I just want a set of used forged 350 pistons (std bore 1.560" CH), flat top or small dome. This is for a low budget engine that I'm putting together with spare parts.

You won;t find may/any "good" used pistons for sale. All the good ones are either still running in a good motor or are reused.

Only the junk is sold off. broken sets etc.

Only used up pistons are sold off. Get a paper route and buy some new KB forged or hyper, your choice. They are very reasonably priced.

Buying used pistons is like buying used race roller tappets or junk yard vortec heads.

Its not about not having the money its about not wanting to spend money on a throw away engine. If I buy pistons then why not a better cam, carb, intake, etc. I don't need the most power just something that runs without blowing up on its first pass.

BTW I've used several sets of junkyard Vortec heads.

I have sold used pistons that mic good. The problem with most is they don't own a mic!

If you build the engine correctly and run it properly, keeping within the laws of physics, you will not be throwing it away.

The only way to blow up an engine is to exceed the laws of physics by quite a bit. If thats what has been happening to your engine's you need to examine what you are doing and do it different. Especially if you have to work within a tight budget.

The only other sure way to blow up and engine is to build it using other peoples used up passed over junk. Good reusable forged piston are never sold off.
Either the builder will re use then or a friend will take them way before they reach Ebay or Craig's list etc.

a whole new world of searching has begun....ebay and racing junk are sooooo last century.....

Absolutely gotta be forged? I mean, a junk engine (so to speak) that has no life expectancy to speak of, why not use some OEM FT w/PM rods? Like the set I have from a LT1? Or is this a N2O deal or ?

I have a set of .030 forged domed 350's with rods LT1 replacement piston I think.
