I am going to tell this on myself!

I wanted a set of real Z-28 pistons so went webbing and found an old set.

Turned out that they were .030" over and so ratty that I sent them back.

They must a been hung out in the shed for like 50 years to have become that ratty!!

Now I buy new pistons because they aren't all that high priced.

Look at Johnson's Speed Warehouse on Ebay. They have lots of old stock of performance parts. Many forged 350 piston sets.

Only used up pistons are sold off. Get a paper route and buy some new KB forged or hyper, your choice. They are very reasonably priced.

Buying used pistons is like buying used race roller tappets or junk yard vortec heads.

I buy used pistons ALL THE TIME. Its not uncommon to find NOS TRW's that have never even been run, I have a set in my 327 I bought in the original box for $150. And I would take a NOS forged trw over mexican hypers any day of the week, especially at HALF the price. I also buy used forged pistons that have been run. Inspect the skirts for scuffing, look at the ring lands, and check the underside to see if its black (avoid) mic them and you are good to go. I also bought used +030 forged flat tops on re-sized shot-peened rods with ARP bolts for my 351C for $100 CDN.

Plenty of Facebook groups with used race parts...
