They work great giving basically fine resolution adjustment of cam centerlines. We use all the models and can't say that we've ever had problems really although they are expensive. I like the 9 position deals like the Ford SVO or chevy rollmaster deals but they can be up to one degree off. The hex-adjusts can always be dialed in usually right on.

Never had any problems. Quick and easy adjustment.

I have one on my BBC. As the others have said it's very quick and easy to use.

However.... The adj bushing is designed to " Float " and is not in solid contact
...so that the pin is not supported by anything. This means that the only thing keeping everything stable is the 3 bolts holding the cam gear on....On mine they recommended a thread locking compound..... Before useing mine I called Cloyes and they said they prefered you not useing this set up with killer valve springs.... As I recall ( it's been several years now ) the tech rep I spoke with said to use it with caution with more than 550 lbs open pressure.
For normal flat tappet and small roller stuff it's fine.

i know exactly what you mean... 2 different engine builders broke the dowel-pin on the Cloyes Hex-adjust by not using green Loctite and max torque on the 3 bolts while Dyno testing !

Both had more than 550 lbs springs hi-lift roller cams, and broke "only AFTER" adjusting cam CL degree for next Dyno tests, primarily because they didn't torque bolts enough the second time and no Loctite

the other times we used the Cloyes set with same spring pressures etc.,
it was OK torquing 3 bolts to at least 35+ lbs, w/ green Loctite.

on that type application Cloyes was marginal, but on small roller or hyd or solid lifter cam with less spring pressure, the Cloyes would be OK

We have used them for years with no problems, I have noticed they are using the black chains again.
