Reputable Machine shop in Southern California?

Post by Jer73 »

Just as the title says I am looking for a good machine shop around the 626 area to help me set up a pair of dart pro1 cnc heads for sbf.

I could of swore I saw a thread asking for basically the same thing the other day, but checking the first 5 pages I don't see it and nothing is coming up in the search. :?

The heads are bare, I need valves, springs, locks, keepers, valve job and the guide clearances need to be checked. I don't know how I missed the other thread. #-o I am in San Dimas to be more specific, I don't mind driving a ways for someone who is good.

are you going to spec the valves and springs (and retainers and keepers)?
best to know what you want and get what you want
See if Evans in El Monte is busy if you want a perfectionist shop- they have a Serdi valve job machine- do nail down schedule
On a budget and know what brands and specs you want ?
Engine Parts Service in Whittier- also first class job but it's a HD shop not hot rod- but if you know what you want he will do a quality job at very reasonable prices

Yes I have a rough idea of what I am after but I need to get the guides checked with a bore gauge before getting rammy and ordering parts that might not fit. The guy I purchased these from upgraded the guides from 11/32 to 5/16 or 8mm, the springs I need to discuss with Mike Jones along with a few other things.

Thank you for the suggestions and links so far guys I really do appreciate it.

Burbank MAchine - another good lead TAylor in Whittier is another
I'm thinking of some others then I think -Chevy guy
yep- size the guides 8mm is not 5/16 and 5/16 is easier to find
solid guides or liners?
did you say what your application is and rpm range
Ask Mike about spring diameter- larger never hurts, the 10 degree keeper question etc
also do you have rockers, if not ask mike

626 pasadena area? Maybe Burbank speed would be closest?
Is Blairs still out there?

I hear Waynes in Riverside is good but never used them. Ask around here, tons of good guys. May cost shipping but probably worth it.
I trust no hourly employees...i want the owner or his right hand guy doing it.
