I grooved a blocks lifter bores and got to see it torn apart after 2 years spring summer fall dirt track use ,, the lobes and lifters looked near new ,, this guy would race twice a week and any week he could and he turned it to 8000+ so it saw plenty of use , Isky 304 mega cam and Howards anti pump lifters ,, low budget build

Is it possible to use a little-bitty diamond tipped Dremal bit and drill/grind a hole in the lifter foot instead of EDM'ing it??

Mock it up and use plenty of lube while making the hole. Then clean and put the lifter back together if you have to take it apart.

I have been grooving lifters for 30 yrs. Use a Dremel with a cut off wheel 0.020-0.025" thick. Start at the oil band & go down to within about 1/8" from the base, not critical. About 0.010-0.015" deep. Rub afterwards with 180 emery paper to remove any burrs/high spots.
