CamFlowRPM version 2.1 not computing

Post by Faster »

Problem with this software from Jon Schmidt.
It seems that most people can run this version of camflowRPM without problems.

I downloaded this version from speedtalk and what it does is opening and computes just once.
After that is doesn't compute anymore when i change one of the inputs.
I asked Jon about his but he cannot help me here because of the java problem.

I am not a java programmer or a software guy.
So my question to the users of this program is: How does it work on your pc ?.
I tried many old java versions and none of them could cure the problem.
Also i tried various operating systems and no progress here either.
Has someone any idea why this failure is there ?

Tkx,

JS

Make sure that there are no empty fields and that there are no spaces or no European commas instead of decimals.

I can't even get mine to unzip or basically do anything but I'm blaming that on my wretched Windows 8. I've been through the whole Java deal several times with several browsers, got confirmation that Java is updated and correct and still nada...

I'm sure I'll wake up one morning with a fancy new Windows 10 update (that I don't want) so we'll see what happens then. I can see it now, "oh look, CamFlowRPM works but my printer, video drivers, etc. don't. Fantastic..."

It was zipped using 7-zip, if you don't have that app, you won't be able to unzip it.
7z has become the default zip application for most people involved with software that I know.

Windows 10 is much better than any version of 8, in many ways it is more like windows 7.

Personally I think .zip is much better bc it comes default and the compression savings aren't worth using 7zip

here it is in a standard ZIP file, hope it works:

also I've noticed if you change a data point in certain cells you have to click out of the cell in another cell for it to "save" it and display a new graph

win zip only uses 1 thread to compress, 7zip compresses using all (or most) of your cores. Once you start to zip large files, this becomes a huge time saver.

a file like this zips in under a second and is easily opened by almost any user. JMO

JAVA does support Mac but I never compiled a Mac version.
Now that the development environment is no longer supported there is no way for me to compile a new version.
That happens sometime when you use a new/emerging language and development environment.

That was one of the frustrating thing with those UI tools at the time.

Yes, I only compiled it for Windows.

Hard to imagine not owning at least one Windows computer.
