Piston dealer
Hi does anyone have any good contacts for 4032 custom slugs (CP, JE, MAhle or others) with lots of nice modern features for an import naturally aspirated street engine? I'm wanting top quality not cheap and nasty.
I've got a sample piston and cad model with right shape and size for the CR to help process but need a place that's happy to work with me to give me what I'm looking for.
Cheers

The custom AutoTec pistons from RaceTec have performed very well for me.

Re: Piston dealer
It appears that I dealer I've used in past now can get 4032 alloy as of only recently . Should save me heartache as they have profiles that are pretty close to what I need with only minor massaging.

I'll second that, Randy n Tim are great to deal with.Walter R. Malik wrote:The custom AutoTec pistons from RaceTec have performed very well for me.

Might check with Mark O'Neal, (Probe), he will probably know off the top of his head!

Re: Piston dealer
For street engine is it worth getting an x-forging /fsr style over full round skirt?
I gather Piston ends up a little lighter and less skirt friction? Are these worth considering and do they make a tangible difference for the average guy ?

Re: Piston dealer
Just a thought here. Piston design, engineering and materials are best secured based on the engine brand, configuration, displacement and your performance use. The experienced quality manufacturers will know what may be best for your particular application. Unless you have some piston engineering abilities I would recommend you listen to what they have used successfully and recommend before you possibly bombard them with your directions unless the use is so unique that they have not developed a piston for that use. Be careful also dealing with dealers and reps as the place this information comes from needs to be the piston manufacturers actual applications and development individuals and departments.

Re: Piston dealer
Most likely only full round skirt is available in 4032 due to less forging types for my application , I'm just curious though how much difference it makes. It's probably not worth worrying about

Probably not true unless it is under 3 inches.inline__engine wrote:Most likely only full round skirt is available in 4032 due to less forging types for my application

Re: Piston dealer
I remember when GM bought JE the new computer controlled lathe to do the 502 marine pistons.

Re: Piston dealer
Racetec does custom 4032 alloy pistons in their Autotec line . 3.530 minimum bore size . Modified box style forging , not full round.inline__engine wrote:Hi does anyone have any good contacts for 4032 custom slugs (CP, JE, MAhle or others) with lots of nice modern features for an import naturally aspirated street engine?
