Aces! After forty pages it would be a great shame for this thread to not play out. :)

Even though I couldn't give two shits less about an E7 head, this is all still great information for the masses. I do look forward to updates.

Hello

I needed some e7te advice ,so came here.

I bought a b cam and 1.72 rockers and what also was included was some e5te heads. When I got home I noticed they had 194/160 valves.
I never have flowed a e5 or e7te heads. So I figured cool , big valves. Let's see what they do.
And if any good. I will throw them on my kids 302
I had 0 interest in the heads. Till I saw the valves
So i thru them on the bench..

Absolutely no porting. Think pinch like 1.5ish
I thought the vj was a joke. And figured 170ish cfm

If any one is interested I will add to this.
I thought I could do better. I more of a LS/sbc guy.
I ended doing better(after alot of work) i also flowed a stock e7te head
Just so I could see a baseline.

So the 200 CFM @ 0.500" is just the larger valves, not your work? How did the exhaust side flow?

I bought an unfinished project truck with a rebuilt 289. The short block was done well but with poor choices on the intake (Offenhauser Equa Flow 360), heads, compression ratio and cam. The heads are D8OE heads with large 69cc chambers and exhaust ports blocked by large thermactor bumps. However, someone milled and drilled them for screw in studs and guide plates, did the guides, installed 1.9"/1.6" valves, decent springs and Comp Cams roller tip rocker arms. As near as I can tell, no port or bowl work was done. I've wondered what they would flow with some bowl work and the exhaust bumps ground out but, on the 289, the compression would still be too low.

Yes, please.

I wouldn't think bigger valves would flow well with no port work. Kinda why I posted

Here is same port with same 1.94 valve. that I ported . sort in development stsge.1.89 pinch. This head isnt easy.
Spent alot time trying get it to turn.tried alot top cuts to.
I didn't trim my guides completely down .
Also stock e7te on my bench that some one blended seat in .looks like.

200 cfm at .500” lift is actually pretty good for these heads with no porting. I think the stock 1.78” intake valve is a pretty serious choke...I’ve got a set of E5AE’s that I have WAY too much time in the flow 177/153@.500” with the stock 1.78/1.45 valves. Stock they was like 155/106 iirc. Unfortunately with these I think even a 1.94” would be pointless. There is a large thin lump in both ports on the common wall that is right in the way of airflow. I’m going to try some undercut 1.84/1.50’s...one of these days

I ended up hitting water .before I found more flow.
These heads are just to thin

Sorry I missed this, exhaust side of intake port near ssr?

Last week in a conversation with my machinist (before brentry brought this up)(before stay at home...) we were just talking about how when he was younger that putting those Chevy valves in a sbf was standard procedure to get them to run , and he did it all the time- he is a ford enthusiast. I’ve not flowed one to know the difference but suspect it would work pretty well on a running engine. I’ve used them on aftermarket sbf heads, but not on ford castings ever. I would be curious as to what type angles those were cut into the throat? 200 is pretty good for those-
Thanks - Jason
