Difficult ? Sort of but with the correct machine there is no reason the amount off the block should be more than a few tenths. (.0002)
That brings up another question, when honing the bores and using steel caps, the iron is softer and so the hone will gravitate to the softer material so the bores aren't round to a few tenths if much is removed. Are typical street corner machine shop just not ridged enough to take the material out off the cap only?
