Norms, look through some of marks older posts and results. Don't ever think you can only achieve x amount of flow or hp out of a combo just because that is all that most people can achieve.
Big LOL to the guys that reckon 300cfm is big for a set of 049's.
I've ported just 1 set of them, with a 2.19" valve, good valve job & pocket port & they went better than 290cfm - I am in no way any kind of expert with BBC heads & I got those numbers barely trying.
I feel for Mark, his location & the required correction kinda makes his results a hard sell, but from what I've seen his engines back up the dyno numbers in the car, so I guess he's got a handle on the correction.
I go to work and I come back to a fire storm LOL. For those who forgot...........773.9 HP @ 6800 RPM on that happy dyno produced this @ 3600 pounds. BTW it was 561 observed HP in a 24.04 baro.........

There have also been discussions about how the Super Flow software works and way as the correct factor gets greater its results are higher than other dynos / software.
If you have an engine on my dyno @ 6400 feet elevation and it makes 580 measured or observed HP in a 23.80 baro, the corrected STP HP is 821 HP It is put into a 3400 pound car and runs 138.7 mph at a track thats 4800 feet elevation, 8000 DA, 25.00 baro. This same exact car is taken to a near sea level track 30.0 baro 715 DA and runs 146.34 MPH, if you use your programs you will see you might want to consider re thinking the yellow bullet thread on correction factors at high altitude. My own back to back testing shows almost no difference.

Vortecpro, Thanks for your contributions that you make here, I for one look forward to what you share and have learned a good bit from you....dont let a nay sayer or 2 ruin the deal as you have the black top dyno results to back up your numbers like straub said.

I recently purchased a new Centroid A560 PB 5 axis CNC machining center. For our training program, my son and i chose to digitize one of our ported 049 castings and make a conservative program that will not be risky thin. There is a solid .050 shift in casting location from "blueprint" spacing that isn't really a problem when hand porting, but is a real concern when cnc porting. With stock GM 2.190 and 1.88 valves robbed from a cracked rectangular port head, we got mid 340's cfm on good runer, high 330's on bad SO FAR. Not done yet! I think there's another 10 numbers in there without going kamikaze.
After i do a few more tweaks to program we will be porting these heads for customers. I'm a firm believer that the oval port heads are the best factory heads to start with as long as the right port work is done. We will need to digitize a 781 casting to see if same program can be cut into them, but if not, i'll just make another program! Vortecpro definately gets better results than most, but i don't see any reason to doubt his claims. In all honesty, i thought i was doing pretty good with this combo, but Mark has me beat by a little -- for now. Competitors that work hard with their hands and heads to get outstanding results should be aknowledged and used as inspiration to get better. Good job Mark!
