I just had a visit from the guy that I trained to do gunning plastic.
He is into flipping cars so since he had never seen my car, here he comes after 32+ years!
He looked at his 454 that I bought off him that I turned into a 496 engine in my car now and said, "Hell, you can keep that BBC engine as far as I am concerned! I want the 350SS deal", as he thumped my 350SS emblem in the middle of my grill.
He knew his stuff because the 1st thing he did was look at the tab on the firewall to verify that my car was indeed a 350SS car!! Hell, I still have my hand written order papers for it! It is a true 350SS/RS car because we almost forgot to check the RS package line!
I point blank asked him what my car was worth and he came right out and said that since it really is a survivor, daily driver, that it was worth between $12 and $13,000 BECAUSE it doesn't have it's OEM block in it is all!!
The last time that I daily drove it back and forth to work was back in 1986. My hopped up 406 got 15 mpg running 55 mph and so when it came time to re-license it, I bought my 1987 Chevy Sprint ER 3-banger, 5-speed, 2-dr hatch car that got right at 50 mpg running 70 mph on I-70.
This is why I am on my Buddy Doc like, "white on rice", because my short block should still be out at his place after all these years!!
His now way long gone wife wanted it gone back then just because it didn't look right being out in the yard/weeds!!
