Whats everyone using for shim's in stock ls7 lifters? Looked at lathing some old plungers with a parting tool but that's a lot of work, be nice if some were available?

I had a little burr on the cutter I used for the bottom cut, couldn't locate it, but it served the purpose regardless. We'll see what she does.

It'll be interesting to see how it responds to filling the intake port floor, the head still looks plenty big and flowzy...

coming along real nice by the looks
i have a couple of questions if you dont mind-
machining the head intake face ?? is this to to correct intake manifold alignment or to square up the epoxy floor.?
i know nothing about LS3 stuff so this is probably a stupid question but here goes-
the wing on the intake guide boss looks to me to redirect towards the cylinder side- is this because of port bias in the bowl/roof area or the chamber shape,just curious thats all.have not talked in a while i hope you are doing well.is special needs in the malibu yet.

Hey Steve. All the LS ports hook left into the side of the cylinder like that...it really isnt ideal i dont think..but keep in mind these things werent designed as race heads. There is definite bias built into the port. Passenger car and light truck heads were their original purpose. It's probably one of several reasons they tend to underperform.
Milling of the intake face was done to correct it after angle milling the decks and for manafold fitment.
Special needs is waiting on some header fabrication before going in the car.

Finally finished my heads/intake (yes it does exist!)
Happy enough with how they turned out, intake gets a little choppy after .700 lift, like when the valve comes out of the chamber. Exhaust is quiet!
2.7 MCSA intake, 1.44" MCSA ex.
3.6" at the runner opening on the center runners and 3.8" outside. Manifold drops the flow #'s 2-7 cfm
