Re: SBC 421 combo advice
Switched to a straub cam over the winter, made a little less HP/Torque but ran 11.1 at 121 and best 60 ft of 1.53. Sprayed it with a 150 shot and it went 10.21 at 131 with a 1.42 60 ft. Car weighs 3500 with driver. I thinks my converter is a little tight unless i spray it, approx. 4200 stall.

Re: SBC 421 combo advice
Did you have to change rear gear ratio for the spray?
I would think it would of picked up around 1000 rpm across the finish line

I am surprised your sixty are as good as they with that low of a stall converter.

Re: SBC 421 combo advice
My goal is to run 10.50 with no NOS, how do i get there? reduce weight, higher stall converter.
Re: SBC 421 combo advice
Yes, more converter, work on the car's launch! A hard launch, and traction are not the same thing...you can dead hook a car and have a piss poor 60ft.
Get that thing to leave hard and run good the first 60ft. I recommend video taping the launch with the ability to slow it way down...look at the front, and the rear, and tires...

What am I looking for in 60 ft times? Without nos it’s best is a 1.53 and a 1.42 with.

Re: SBC 421 combo advice
Raynman,
Glad to see you are back up running, I think we both know your car is not showing 600 hp as in mph,
I think you have to decide whether to run N/A or bottle at the moment and concentrate on one or other and not both.
I still stand by my comments on converter and 60 ft as I previously posted, if you can dip into high 1.4 s 60 ft you are on your way. I would do some research on startline ratios and seriously consider a way bigger converter, currently I am running my 5600rpm stall with a 383 sbc that rpm shift at 6000 and clicks at 6200 through the lights, it runs slower with smaller converter.
Just do one thing at a time and document everything, what might work for me might not work for you and the biggest thing I am learning is you have to test for yourself and get the results positive or negative,
Keep us posted on your results
