I am just wondering how big one can be bored and stroked?
They are 4.00" b x 3.66" s = 368" stock.
I like these old engines because they have conventional side by side intake ports and not on top of each other like the "Y-block", Fords.
Heavy boat anchors back then, but what engines weren't?

Re: Lincoln 368", "Y-block", engine.
Our friend Mummert should be along soon, but from his site:
The early Lincoln V8 can be increased to 425+ cu. in. 1957 and later heads are reported to have reinforcing posts and 1.60" exhaust valves. ECU heads are generally used for performance along with the 60's 332 cu in truck 4 bbl intake, which accepts modern 4 bbl carbs. 302 and 332 trucks had steel crankshafts which can be welded for stroker use. Stroke has been increased up to 4.10".

Jack,
Are you saying that the Ford FE engines heads and cranks fit the Lincoln "Y"-block engines?
I just now looked and found out here --
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_ ... e_timeline
that they have the same cylinder bore spacing. I didn't know this before...
I might have asked you how big the Packard V-8 can be over-bored, but if I did, I have forgotten? How much??

I'm not familiar with the Y-blocks , but Ted Eaton has a bunch of info on his website.

Re: Lincoln 368", "Y-block", engine.
These look to be for the old 239/272/292/312 "Y"-block engines, not the bigger Lincoln 368.DracerX wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2018 11:57 am I'm not familiar with the Y-blocks , but Ted Eaton has a bunch of info on his website.

Re: Lincoln 368", "Y-block", engine.
Just an FYI to any newbies on this question and please correct me/flame me if I am wrong:
FORD/MERCURY/LINCOLN Bore Spacing
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lincoln Y-Block and Ford FE/FT bore spacing: 4.63 inches
Ford Y-Block and Ford Small Block V-8 (SBF) bore spacing: 4.38 inches
MEL engine family and 385/BBF/429/460/Lima bore spacing: 4.90 inches
I always find it cool to know that FORD kept the same bore spacing for these engine families!

It's not just Ford, it's bean counters everywhere. Chevrolet still builds the LS, et al, on the same 4.400" bore centers used on the 1955 transfer line machines?428Mustang wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 7:04 pm Just an FYI to any newbies on this question and please correct me/flame me if I am wrong:
