Hi all , looking for a quick supplier for rings to suit these pistons. JE packed the wrong ring set, widths are wrong.
I have just emailed my supplier, Precision International and JE aswell but thought I would ask here too. Need to cover all bases to organise rings asap without dragging this on.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Actual bore diameter is 3.5955"
Need 1.2 , 1.5 , 3mm width rings.
Turbo street/strip application.
6 cylinder.

Hey Paulie, yes i will get some pics up as this progresses.
Its a 179 red 6. Turbo, efi, n2o, water/meth injection in an LJ GTR. Just a good fun streeter!

Hey Craig, sounds like a cool piece. I'd be keen to see some pics. (assuming the owner is ok with that)
I've used water injection a few times with reasonable results, but always had better outcomes on the same engine with an intercooler. A recent PWR Water to Air IC installed on my personal car has cooled boost temperatures particularly well.

Yes its a fun little ride for sure, it also does have a decent front mount intercooler aswell. Im sure the owner will be fine with some pics we've been friends for many years. It previously made 375rwhp using the 75hp n2o shot at iirc 15lb. It was 192ci had acl cast pistons. They tried 19lb and hurt 2 pistons, still ran but was knocking at idle and unloaded so it had to come apart.
The block had a couple of deck cracks (we knew that already from a head swap) so it became a reblock. I wanted to base it on a 202 as i had a mint std bore no corrosion block but the owner found a 179 hp block and wanted to use it instead.
Its nothing radical inside, arp main studs, cleanup line hone, grout to the bottom of water pump, starfire rods and arp bolts, cast crank, we just cracktested crank and rods and rebalanced with new pistons. Forged JE in it now, just the piston $$$ gave him a coronary! Lol.
Changed the cam due to a little wear, 238/248@50 SFT , edm lifters, YT shaft rockers.
Initial head on old block had a lot of work and nicer chambers but had some cracks in the ports so we got hold of the current head, s/hand YT basic head , freshened the seats and ex guides, swapped to his existing springs and retainers and ran it (prior to piston failure), the replacement head made a little less rwhp and took a 1psi increase to equal the old head (14 up to 15 lb). The head was not hurt in the piston damage saga but the heads studs will be replaced, so the head was simply a strip/check and a fine skim as this engine will use a .040" cometic mls head gasket.
Previously it was running an o ringed block with copper gasket.
Need a new oil pump, it had a HV pump which had cracked at the drive gear end of the housing casting so is not happy! I will also mod the sump for a little extra oil capacity.
Then its simply a clean and refit of all the remaining bits and back in the car.
This time staying at 15lb max says the owner!!

Thanks for the pics Craig. In a lightweight LJ, that would be a handful! I admire the work and thinking that goes into hotrod builds like these, especially where aftermarket support is limited.
